'Disrespectful' Driver Wiggled Out of Handcuffs: Police

A 34-year-old Orland Park driver was charged with DUI and resisting an officer on Aug. 23.

Erica F. Waddick, 34, of the 10200 block of Hibiscus Drive, Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest, speeding, following too closely and improper lane use on Aug. 23, according to an Orland Park police report.

Cops spotted a Chevrolet following another car too closely and cross over the median to pass it at a high rate of speed ion the 15400 block of LaGrange Road, the report states. The officer clocked the car doing 53 mph in a 35 mph zone at about 4:03 p.m.

Waddick, the driver, had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, police said. She reportedly informed the officer through slurred speech that she had not been speeding and did not drink that day. She was "uncooperative and disrespectful" when answering questions from the cops, police said. Waddick failed field sobriety tests and, when asked to take a breath test, responded by saying "Hell, no."

An officer tried to arrest Waddick, who pulled away from cops, police said. She also pulled her hand out of handcuffs twice while locked to a holding bunch at the Orland Park Police Department.

Waddick is due on Sept. 18 in Bridgeview court.
