DUI Traffic Stop on Way Home from House of Blues: Blotter

Stopped on Way Home From House of Blues

Brian J. Windt, 38, of the 15600 block of Larkspun Lane, Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and speeding, according to a report. Windt was on his way home at about 1:20 a.m. from drinking at the House of Blues when he was spotted by police traveling 57mph in a 40mph zone in the 8400 block of 151st Street. During a traffic stop, police reported smelling an odor of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath. He was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed. While under arrest, Windt took a breath test for his blood-alcohol content. He is due on June 13 in Bridgeview court.

Outstanding Warrant

Ronsha R. Lawton, 22, of the 1400 block of Greenwood Road, Ford Heights, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for possession of marijuana, according to a report. She had turned herself in at about 6:48 a.m. at the Orland Park Police Department.

Heroin Possession Charge

Brandon M. Oakes, 28, of the 11900 block of Sterling Drive, Orland Park, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to a report. Police investigated a suspicious vehicle at about 10:47 p.m. in the 9300 block of 159th Street. The driver was asked to consent to a search. Police found baggies with white powder and a piece of bloodstained cotton swab during a search of Oakes. Another officer allegedly found more baggies with white powder, several folded pieces of foil and a metal spoon, among other items, inside Oakes’ car. The 9.3 grams of white powder found in the baggies tested positive for heroin. Oakes was due on April 25 in Bridgeview court.

Retail Theft Charge

Tommy L. Spence, 52, of the 2600 block of Western Avenue, Park Forest, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. He is accused of hiding jewelry in his pocket and leaving Sears, 2 Orland Square Drive, without paying. A witness and Sears employee detained Spence before police arrived.
