Elderly Chicago Couple Steals Spices & Vitamins From Orland Park Whole Foods: Police

The police let the elderly couple go with a ticket.

An elderly couple got caught stealing spices and vitamins from the Orland Park Whole Foods, police said.

Eugene Stromidlo, 77, and Bronislawa Stromidlo, 65, both of 5242 Keeler Ave. were charged with retail theft but let off with tickets.

A Whole Foods employee spotted the Stromidlos in the store's spice aisle and watched Bronislawa Stromidlo "select two containers of spices and open them," a police report said.

She "then took a bag from her pocket and placed a little of both spices into the individual bags and placed the bags into her coat pocket," the report said. "After taking the spices she placed the opened containers back on the shelf."

Bronislawa Stromidlo "proceeded to the vitamin aisle where she met up with an elderly (man)," police said.

Bronislawa Stromidlo grabbed a few bottles of vitamins and put them in her purse while Eugene Stromidlo picked out a bottle for himself and stashed it in his pocket, police said.

The couple's total haul was worth $174.29, police said.
