Empty Can of Natty Ice Found During DUI Stop: Blotter

Orland Park police reports, March 10-14.

THURSDAY, MARCH 14

A "Blunt" and Baggies of Marijuana

Ronsha R. Lawton, 22, of the 1400 block of Greenwood in Ford Heights, was charged with possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and improperly displaying license plates, according to a report. She is accused of having 10 baggies of marijuana that weighed a total of 6.7 grams combined. Police stopped her red Chrysler at about 7:06 p.m. near 159th Street and 80th Avenue. An officer reported smelling a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the car and seeing a thin cigar fall to the ground in front of his squad car before Lawton’s car come to a stop. Both Lawton and a passenger in the car denied throwing a “blunt” out the window. Police searched the vehicle and found a purse that had baggies of a green leafy substance that tested positive for the presence of marijuana.

Car Crash And A Can Of Natty Ice

Joseph M. Targosz, 59, of the 16000 block of Josef Drive in Homer Glen, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, and failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash. Police were called at about 2:36 p.m. to the intersection of Will-Cook Road and 159th Street for a crash. An officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol coming from one of the vehicles in the crash. An empty 12oz can of Natural Ice beer was found on the floor near the right, rear passenger seat. Targosz was arrested and taken to the Orland Park Police Department, where he took a breath test. He is due in a Bridgeview court on April 14.

TUESDAY, MARCH 12

Warrant Arrest

Andrea Enriquez, 19, of the 16400 block of Harold Street in Oak Forest, was arrested at about 10:09 p.m. after she turned herself into Orland Park police on an outstanding Cook County warrant for larceny. She was due in Bridgeview court on March 13.

SUNDAY, MARCH 10

DUI Charge

Kenneth V. McBrien, Jr., 41, of the 14600 block of Poplar Court in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane use and speeding, according to a report. McBrien was stopped at about 11:02 p.m. in the 8800 block of 151st Street after his 2003 Chevy Impala was seen speeding and weaving in the lane. Police reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. He was arrested after attempting to take field sobriety tests. McBrien was due in Bridgeview court on March 29.
