Family Phone Fight: Domestic Battery

Police were called to a residence on Aug. 30 around 9:40 p.m. in the 16400 block of Boardwalk Terrace, by a man who said he was being chased. Officers said Khaled Mubarek, 42, of Orland Hills, was sitting in a vehicle with another man when Mubarek's wife came out to the car. An argument reportedly ensued, and the wife tried to grab a phone from inside the car. After Mubarek reportedly grabbed her by the wrists, the woman's family members joined the fray, and one was kicked in the stomach, the report said. Once Mubarek got the phone back, he reportedly called police. The woman wished to sign a complaint of domestic battery and Mubarek was placed into custody.

Officers reportedly saw a man toss a small object out of the passenger side window of a vehicle on Aug. 21 at about 5:50 p.m. in the 16700 block of South 94th Avenue. An officer found that the item was a small plastic baggie that possibly contained marijuana. The driver admitted the baggie was his and that he didn't want to be caught with it, police said. Omar Abedgader, 18, of Orland Hills, was cited for possession of marijuana.

Underage Friends Don't Let Friends Buy Them Beer: Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor/Driving With a Suspended License

Police were called about a man who reportedly bought two cases of beer and put them in the trunk of a vehicle of an underage man at Walmart 9245 W. 159th Street on Aug. 23 around 10 p.m. Officers pulled the vehicle over and found the driver, Eugene K. Hong, 20, of Tinley Park, had a suspended license and was driving without insurance. He also was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor and posted bond. The passenger, James E. Stark, 21, of Tinley Park, was cited for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Packed in the Purse: Retail Theft

Police were called around 9:25 p.m. on Aug. 27 to Walmart, 9245 W. 159th St., about a man and woman who were reportedly caught by store security attempting to take items from the store. Store security reportedly saw Dean Privovolos, 19, and Nicole Denison, 18, both of Palos Hills, putting school supplies and an ethernet router into a purse and walking past the register without paying. They were both charged with retail theft, given a September court date and were released on I-Bonds.

Warrant Arrest

Police pulled over a driver on Aug. 20 around 4:10 p.m. in the 16700 block of LaGrange Road for driving with expired registration. An active warrant was found for the driver, as well as a suspended license. Jilandre, L. Lawton, 21, of University Park, was arrested on a Hickory Hills warrant, and charged with driving with a suspended license and driving with expired registration. He posted bond and was released with a court date.
