With approval from defense attorneys, a Cook County judge ruled Monday that all files pertaining to the Allan Kustok murder trial be sealed from public view.
In late October, state prosecutors entreated Associate Judge John J. Hynes to keep police and other reports about the death and investigation of Jeanie Kustok out of the public’s hand following attempts by reporters to obtain them by legal request.
Hynes was expected to announce his decision last week, but delayed it to give Kustok’s defense attorneys time to review a draft of the ruling.
Kustok's lead defense attorney, Rick Beuke, would not elaborate on why the defense needed to look at the ruling before it was officially announced.
The next pretrial hearing is set for Dec. 20.
