Kustok Murder Trial Still Set for Mid-February

With only one remaining status date to go before then, Allan Kustok's trial related to the shooting death of his wife will start about three-and-a-half years after he was arrested.

All that stands between jury selection starting for Allan Kustok’s murder trial on Feb. 18 is a single status date on Feb. 10.

The Feb. 10 date for a last pre-trial status was set during brief status hearing Friday in Judge John Hynes’ Bridgeview courtroom.

Kustok is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife Anita “Jeanie” Kustok.

The trial date is coming after several months of delays, and despite Hynes’ previous insistence that the trial happen during 2013.

Testimony has been given in past hearings by a hospital nurse and police officers about the morning of Sept. 29, 2010, when Allan Kustok arrived at Palos Community Hospital with the body of his dead wife wrapped in sheets.

Details about Allan Kustok’s infidelity have also been discussed in court.

Allan Kustok’s attorneys have tried to prevent testimony from hospital personnel, as well as accounts of being unfaithful and financial troubles, out of the trial. Hynes agreed to keep finances out, but has allowed details on dalliances with other women and hospital staff testimony to remain in the trial.
