Kustok Pillowcase Evidence Part of Request for New Trial
What did the crime lab find on the fabric that has the defense questioning the forensic expert's testimony?
Allan Kustok's attorney says new evidence in the case merits a retrial for the convicted wife killer.
Facing life in prison, the Kustok's bid for a new trial hinges on evidence discovered on Anita "Jeanie" Kustok's pillowcase.
Kustok, 63, was found guilty in March in the shooting death of his wife in 2010. He shot her with a .357 Magnum in the bedroom they shared in their Orland Park home. Kustok claimed his wife shot herself, but prosecutors said he stood over his sleeping wife and fired the gun at her face.

The State Police crime lab found dried blood and lead on the pillowcase, and Beuke said the lead is evidence the gun was fired near the pillowcase. He said that's contradictory to the conclusion of the prosecution's forensics expert.
In court Wednesday, Beuke and the assistant Cook County state's attorney said they had yet to review the pillowcase test results in detail.
