Man Accused in Sex Assault of Teen to be Arraigned on New Charges

Kevin Skaritka, 35, will be arraigned on two felony counts of manufacturing harmful materials in connection with case unrelated to the sexual assault charges.

An Orland Park man  remained in custody Tuesday on new charges unrelated to the molestation case.

Kevin Skaritka, 35, is set to be arraigned Sept. 20 on two new felony counts of manufacturing harmful materials. He to someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl in St. Louis, Mo.

Police say Skaritka was communicating online with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl, but he was actually talking to an undercover St. Louis police sergeant. According to prosecutors, Skaritka chatted with the sergeant between November 2011 and June of this year using Yahoo Instant Messenger. Skaritka sent a photo of himself and requested "nudie" pics of the fictitious 14-year-old, according to authorities.

Skaritka appeared in khaki-colored jeans and a khaki DOC shirt Tuesday in Judge Peter Felice's Bridgeview courtroom. His bond for the new charges had been set at $2 million in Judge Joseph J. Hynes courtroom on Aug. 10.

A trial on the original charges, to which Skaritka had pleaded not guilty, was set to begin on Tuesday. It is unclear when that trial will be rescheduled. Skartika was arrested and charged last May with 14 counts of sexual assault after he was accused of molesting his girlfriend’s teenage daughter and .
