Man Hoping For 'Great Deal' on Couch Gets Locked up For Missing Pot Case Court Date: Cops

It was not known whether the Evanston man got back to the Orland Park furniture store in time to get a deal on that couch he had his eye on.

An Evanston man waiting outside an Orland Park furniture store in hopes of scoring a "great deal" on a couch instead was arrested for allegedly missing a pot case court date.

Andrew Kensek, 58, of 2730 Central St. was sitting in a minivan in front of Art Van Furniture on LaGrange Road, police said, and attracted the attention of a few officers because the store wasn't scheduled to open for another 45 minutes or so.

An officer ran the van's registration and saw there was a warrant out for the owner's arrest, police said. The officer also noticed the description of the owner matched Kensek.

The officer "approached the vehicle and asked the driver for identification and asked what he was doing in front of the store," police said. "The driver, now known as Andrew J. Kensek, stated that he was waiting for a special deal at Art Van Furniture and that he was hoping to get a great deal on a couch."

Kensek was taken into custody and booked on the Kane County warrant, police said.
