Man Killed by Train was District 146 Fifth-Grade Teacher

Memorial School teacher Mark Reilly died after being struck by a train Friday in Tinley Park. District 146 remembered his life in a press release.

A man struck and killed by a Metra train in Tinley Park Friday morning was a teacher at Memorial School in District 146.

Mark Reilly was a fifth-grade teacher of nine years at Memorial School and District 146, according to a release from the district.

"He was well liked and respected by all, and his untimely passing has profoundly touched all that knew him. His presence here will be sorely missed."

Crisis support services are offered for students and staff today and through next week, if needed, according to the release.

"We take solace in the good and lasting work that Mr. Reilly did in his too-brief lifetime," the district said in the release. "The results of his outstanding teaching and his influences on his students will always be remembered.

"The people whose lives he touched are monuments to Mr. Reilly's life."

Patch will provide obituary and funeral information when it becomes available. Those who wish to pay tribute to Mr. Reilly can do so on Orland Park Patch's Facebook page
