Man Tasered While Resisting Arrest, Police Say

Joseph Anthony Tuccillo, 43, of Orland Park, became 'physically combative' while police tried to arrest him, according to reports.

An Orland Park man was stunned twice by Tasers used by Mokena police after he became "physically combative" while they tried to arrest him the night of Thursday, Dec. 2, police said.

Joseph Anthony Tuccillo, 43, of the 9900 block of Shady Lane in Orland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police found him behind the wheel of a car parked in the southbound lane of LaGrange Avenue, just south of I-80. According to reports, Tuccillo was slouched in his seat, his body movements were slow, his speech was slurred and his eyes were glassy.

Tuccillo got out of the car when police asked him to, but he started walking away when officers began asking questions. Officers grabbed him and placed him under arrest, but Tuccillo began to struggle and curse at them. When he refused to put his hands behind his back, officers warned him twice of the Taser, according to reports. He did not stop struggling, and officers deployed drive stuns to Tuccillo's lower back and one to his right leg.

Once handcuffed, Tuccillo became belligerent again and would not place his legs in the squad car, instead kicking an officer in the thighs. Once in the car, he started kicking the partition and cursing at the officers, police said.

Tuccillo was charged with aggravated battery, driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest, possession of cannabis/30 grams or less, possession of drug equipment and driving without lights. He was taken to Will County Adult Detention Facility in Joliet.
