New Ghost Rider Lawyer Receives ‘Voluminous’ Discovery

Attorney Brad Telander received documents from the Cook County State's Attorney's office during his second hearing representing a 22-year-old man from Orland Park, accused of taunting police on a motorcycle while videoing the escapades.

The new attorney for Justin Jachimiec collected a large stack of discovery documents from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, during the first hearing since assuming the accused “Orland Ghost Rider’s” defense.

Glen Ellyn attorney Brad Telander acknowledged accepting the documents he described as “voluminous,” during a brief court hearing in Judge Joan O’Brien’s Bridgeview courtroom Tuesday.

Jachimiec is accused of riding a dirt bike dangerously close to other cars on the road and Orland Park police squad cars, popping wheelies while passing and taunting police. He shot videos of the maneuvers that were later posted on YouTube, with the driver described as the “Orland Ghost Rider” in the accompanying text.

Jachimiec pleaded not guilty to charges, including two counts of felony fleeing and eluding police and other traffic violations. He remains in custody in the Cook County Jail Department of Corrections on a no-bond order after he missed an October court date. A November trial date was postponed, as was a February trial date.

During jury selection for the scheduled February trial, Jachimiec’s then-attorney Patrick Doherty recognized a key prosecutor’s witness as a client of his on a separate and unrelated case. Doherty was dismissed, and Telander was taken on about a month later.
