Orland Fire Administrative Assistant Resigns

She's the first district employee to resign since the new board took oath and began cutting positions.

Gwen Tam, an administrative assistant for the Orland Fire Protection District, resigned on Monday, Aug. 15, making her the first district employee to willfully step down since the new board took oath.

In a letter to the fire district, Tam simply thanked the district for the opportunity to work and explained that she was taking her remaining vacation days before officially stepping down, Board Secretary Blair Rhode said.

“She didn’t really give a reason,” board president James Hickey added. “She’s just moving on.”
