Orland Park Man Charged with Pre-Thanksgiving Residential Burglary

Police are still looking for people responsible for another burglary around the same time.

An Orland Park man was accused Wednesday of burglarizing an Orland Park home that he was aware was unoccupied at the time, according to police.

Andrew J. Bernard, 27, of the 15700 block of South 86th Avenue was charged with one count of felony residential burglary.

The were looking for two men who burglarized a home in the 8900 block of Pine Street as well as . Jewelry, laptop computers, video game systems and cash were taken, according to a release.

Bernard was staying at a friend’s house in the 8900 block of Pine Street around the time of the burglaries and was aware that no one was at the house before it was burglarized, according to a release from the Orland Park Police Department. Residents reported that their house was likely entered through an unlocked patio door, police said.

“He is very familiar with the area,” Orland Park Police Sgt. Scott Malmborg said about Bernard.

Police are still looking for other suspects and have not yet charged anyone with the burglary in the 8500 block of Cedar Street.

Bail was set at $25,000 Thursday. Bernard is scheduled to be in court next on Dec. 14,
