Orland Park police reports: June 9-13

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13

$800 on a Gift Card

Police were called about a cashier at Macy’s accused of stealing by security around 10:25 a.m. Security said a man was seen making three returns without any items and put the balances on a gift card, for a total of 798.96, according to the report. [Redacted], 43, was charged with theft.

Hiding Green

Police were called about a retail theft at Carson Pirie Scott around 4:30 p.m. Security said a woman was seen putting a green blouse in her purse and leaving the store without paying, according to the report. Other clothing items were found in the woman’s purse when security stopped her, police said. The items together are worth $99.99, polie said. Leila Kraffes, 58, of the 10100 block of Mansfield Avenue in Oak Lawn, was charged with retail theft.

Warrant Arrest

A man wanted on a warrant came to the Orland Park Police Department around 4:40 p.m. to talk with an officer about a recent visit. Mohammad S. Aburish, 35, of the 10600 block of Mayfield Avenue in Chicago Ridge, was arrested on a Cook County warrant for phone harassment.

MONDAY, JUNE 11

Too Slow

Police pulled over a vehicle after seeing it drive slowly and crossing over lane lines on 159th Street near Ravinia Avenue around 1:20 a.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol, his eyes were red and glassy, empty beer cans were found in the car and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. The officer also found a wooden pipe and baggie with marijuana in it inside the car, according to the report. Brian J. Mata, 29, of the 8600 block of Kolmar Avenue, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving an uninsured vehicle.

SATURDAY, JUNE 9

Punched

Police were called about a battery in the 15600 block of Peachtree Lane around 11:20 p.m. The caller said a man was seen walking on the street and punched another man in the face, according to the report. A car matching a description given by the caller was seen and pulled over, police said. The man who was punched identified the man who punched him in the car, according to the report. William E. Keener, 53, of the 9200 block of Oak Street in Burbank, was charged with battery.
