Orland Park Police Blotter: Clerk Helped Steal Over $2,000 of Merchandise

FRIDAY, JUNE 29

Lane Slide

Police pulled over an SUV after seeing it changing lanes repeatedly without signaling and crossing over the center line, while near 157th Street and LaGrange Road around 11:55 p.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol and she failed field sobriety tests, police said.  Laura R. Pinto, 46, of the 7500 block of Claremont Drive in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08, improper lane use and driving a vehicle without a plate cover.

Warrant Arrest

Police were called to Centennial Pool about a woman seen, who staff were instructed to call police about if she returned to the pool, around 3:25 p.m. Jamie L. Gushi, 28, of the 9000 block of Windsor Drive in Orland Park, was arrested on a DuPage County failure-to-appear warrant for driving under the influence.

Warrant Arrest

Police were called about a man in Hickory Hills police’s custody with an active Orland Park warrant at Hackney’s, 9550 W. 123rd St. in Palos Park, around 5:40 p.m. Mark S. Ramos, 25, of the 9100 block of 87th Avenue in Hickory Hills, was arrested on a warrant for disorderly conduct.

Warrant Arrest

Police were called about a woman in Glenwood police’s custody with an active Orland Park warrant around 2:15 p.m. Quiara S. Campbell, 27, of the 6100 block of Ingleside Street in Chicago, was arrested on an Orland Park warrant for theft and a Ford County failure-to-appear warrant for obstructing justice.

FRIDAY, JUNE 20

Item Correct

Police were called to Home Depot about an employee involved in a retail theft around 3 p.m. Security said on nine occasions since April the employee either didn’t scan items at the register or marked an item as an “item correct,” which removes the dollar amount from the total in the register, police said. The employee wrote her own statement about her involvement in the items taken without payment, police said. The total value of all under-rung or stolen merchandise is $2,040.48, police said.  An active warrant for the employee was also found while she was in custody, police said. Deborah R. Samuels, 27, of the 14600 block of Chicago Road in Dolton, was charged with felony retail theft and arrested on a Midlothian warrant for driving with a suspended license.
