Orland Park Police Blotter: Driver Accused of Texting and Driving While on Xanax

TUESDAY, JAN. 15

Near Sideswipe, Crash Into Median

Police were called about an erratic driver near 153rd Street and LaGrange Road around 10:05 p.m., and spotted a car matching the description as it struck a raised median strip at 151st Street and LaGrange Road. The car spun to the right of the road, jumped the curb and stopped, police said. The driver stepped out of the car, he spoke slowly and appeared to be disorientated, but he declined medical help, according to the report. The driver later told paramedics that he had taken xanax about 30 minutes before the accident, according to the report. The original caller told police that he was almost sideswiped his car, police said. Alex Rodriguez, 20, of the 100 block of Beacon Ridge Drive in Bolingbrook, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, texting while driving and improper lane use.

Second Time

Police pulled over a car for changing lanes without signaling and rolling past the white stop line at a red light on 82nd Avenue at 151st Street around 4:10 a.m. The driver fumbled with his license, he spoke with a slurred speech, his breath smelled like alcohol and he declined to perform field sobriety tests, police said. When asked why the inside of his vehicle smelled like alcohol, he picked up a Sobe brand drink in a plastic bottle, according to the report. Police found an active warrant for his arrest out of DuPage County for driving under the influence of alcohol. Rodney A. Madison, 23, of the 17600 block of Iroquois Trace in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to signal, driving without a front license plate and disobeying a traffic control light. He was also arrested on a warrant for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Hard Swerve

Police pulled over a car after seeing it drive over center lane lines, and swerve hard to avoid missing a raised median, in the 16000 block of LaGrange Road around 3:05 a.m. The vehicle smelled like alcohol inside, the driver’s speech was slurred and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. Robert M. Morley Jr., 63, of the 6200 block of Hamilton Lane in La Crescenta, Calif., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08, improper lane use and driving an uninsured vehicle.

FRIDAY, JAN. 11

Warrant Arrest

Police were called to the Tinley Park Police Department about a man in custody with an active Orland Park warrant around 8:40 p.m. Brandon Johnson, 22, of the 100 block of Park Road in Joliet, was arrested on a warrant for theft.
