Orland Park Police Blotter: Mall Security Says Woman Used Children in Retail Theft

Orland Park police reports, Sept. 8-13

TUESDAY, SEPT. 13

Blown Red Light, DUI

Gregory W. Glomb, 24, of the 9800 block of 145th Street in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic controlled light, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police said they stopped Glomb’s car in the 15100 block of Harlem Avenue at 12:55 a.m. for blowing a red light, speeding and swerving. He refused to take a breathalyzer test but failed field sobriety tests, police said.

MONDAY, SEPT. 12

Domestic Battery

Michael R. Baranda, 25, of the 7500 block of Tiffany Drive in Orland Park, was charged with domestic battery. Police said Baranda and a woman got into a fight in front of his house around 4 p.m. The fight escalated inside the home, where Baranda choked and repeatedly pushed the woman, police said.

Children Used in Retail Theft

Kafa A. Alamarin, 42, of the 7600 block of Sequoia Court in Orland Park, was charged with retail theft, unlawfully contributing to criminal delinquency of a juvenile, and obstructing identification. Orland Square Mall security told police that Alamarin filled two tote bags with merchandise and hid one in her stroller and put the other in a child's hands. Alamarin then instructed the child to leave the store with the stroller and both tote bags, security said. Alamarin and the children were stopped in the parking lot. The merchandise was valued at $478, police said. Alamarin initially gave police a false name, according to the report.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 9

Domestic Battery

Walter J. Pietrus, 52, of the 9300 block of Montgomery Drive in Orland Park, was charged with domestic battery. Police said Pietrus, after a night of drinking, pushed a woman to the ground, causing her to strike her head on an end table inside Pietrus' home around 10:30 p.m.

Blunt in Ashtray

Toronto McBrown, 34, of the 200 block of Forrest Street in Sidney, Ohio, was charged with possession of cannabis and no valid driver’s license. Police said they stopped McBrown’s car in the 200 block of Orland Square Drive at 4:12 p.m. for driving without a seat belt, and they found a blunt in the ashtray.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 8

Domestic Battery

Sepas A. Siddiqui, 19, of the 11100 block of Woodstock Drive in Orland Park, was charged with domestic battery. Police said Siddiqui was sleeping in his basement around 6 a.m. when a woman woke him for a ride home. According to the report, Siddiqui kicked and punched the woman in the face and broke a plate over her head. He spit on her when she refused his request for an apology, police said. The woman was taken to Palos Community Hospital, where doctors informed police that the woman had suffered a bone-deep laceration on her wrist and a smashed index finger, along with several bruises and bumps.
