Orland Park Police Blotter: Man Tells Police He Can Pay His Way Out of DUI

SATURDAY, JUNE 23

Domestic Battery

Police were called about a domestic dispute in the 10200 block of Huntington Court around 7:35 p.m. Two men were arguing, when one grabbed the other by the neck and pushed him into a screen door, causing the frame to break, police said. A witness confirmed the report the attacked man gave police, though the accused man denied it and said he was defending himself, according to the report.  Yassein Y. Zaatar, 49, of the 8500 block of 95th Street in Hickory Hills, was charged with domestic battery.

Worth So Much

Police pulled over a car after seeing it straddle the lane line, come close to striking a landscape median strip and then shifting to the far right lane without signaling, on 159th Street west of Ravinia Avenue around 2:45 a.m. The driver’s speech was slurred, he smelled like alcohol and failed field sobriety tests, according to the report. While at the police station, he told officers he’s “worth so much money he can get out of a DUI,” police said. Brian P. Zabrodski, 23, of the 16100 block of Wildwood Lane in Homer Glen, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, speeding and failure to signal.

Too Close

Police pulled over a truck after seeing it change lanes without signaling, swerving in the lane and following a car close to the point that the driver kept hitting brakes, in the 14500 block of LaGrange Road around 1:05 a.m. The driver did not hand over an insurance card, police smelled alcohol on his breath and he failed field sobriety tests, according to the report. Daniel J. O’Connor, 40, of the 14000 block of Cheswick Drive in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, following too closely, improper lane use, driving an uninsured vehicle and failure to signal.

FRIDAY, JUNE 22

Tag Team

Police were called about a retail theft at JCPenney around 7:25 p.m. Security said two women were seen taking several items into a dressing room, then left the room, paid for a few items and left the store, police said. Security found some items left behind in the dressing room, but not all of the items taken, according to the report. Officers found $103 worth of merchandise that wasn’t paid for, police said.

Asharte J. Beane, 33, of the 500 block of Webb Street in Calumet City, and Dandrea L. Suttles, 24, of the 1800 block of 127th Street in Calumet City, were each charged with retail theft.

THURSDAY, JUNE 21

Warrant Arrest

Christopher R. Peters, 30, of the 10200 block of Huntington Court was arrested in a warrant for criminal trespass to a vehicle. He was found at his home around 4:45 p.m., and then taken to the Orland Park Police Department, according to the report.
