Orland Park Police Blotter: Pocketed Pills and False Returns

Orland Park police reports: May 10-16

WEDNESDAY, MAY 16

Pocket Pills

Police pulled over a vehicle after the driver was seen not wearing a seat belt near Orland Square Drive and 94th Avenue around 8:05 p.m. Police smelled burnt marijuana and searched the car, where they found a container and a grinder with small amounts marijuana inside, as well as two packets of cigarette papers and small baggy with seven yellow pills in it, according to the report. A male passenger took responsibility for all of the items, including the pills, which he said were Valium, according to the report. The man said he used to have a prescription for Valium but it expired, and police found two other pills on him, according to the report. Police also found a small baggie of marijuana on the driver, according to the report. Nicole E. Scialabba, 21, of the 7300 block of Winthorp Way in Downers Grove, was cited with possession of marijuana and driving without wearing a seat belt. Jeffery A. Domijan, 26, of the 900 block of 63rd Street in Downers Grove, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Return Ruse

Police were called about a woman trying to make a false return at Ulta Salon Cosmetics around 4:15 p.m. Police were told a woman had taken several items to the front register, and said she wanted to return them though she had no receipt, according to the report. Store staff said she was seen taking the items before bringing them to the front, and a bottle of perfume was later found in her purse, police said. Store staff also said she committed a retail theft at the store back in February, police said. Trisha A. Cunningham, 34, of the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Street in Gary, Ind. was charged with retail theft.

Soliciting

Police learned a man was soliciting for cash at 159th Street and 71st Court around 3:20 p.m. The man was approaching vehicles and impeding traffic, and had been told to leave the area before, police said. Daniel A. Raimondi, 40, of the 16800 block of Gaynelle Road in Tinley Park, was cited with illegal street solicitation.

Rough Tongue

Police were called about an underage man found drinking at an event at Silver Lake Country Club around 11:25 p.m. Security said an underage man was seen drinking a rum and coke, and was told to stop drinking, according to the report. The man stopped, but then was seen later on the dance floor holding a beer bottle, police said. When asked why he kept drinking, the man cursed at security, according to the report. Jacob K. Duffy, 19, of the 20300 block of Hilltop Road in Mokena, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 11

Fake Check Return

Police were called about a woman seen in Costco around 7:05 p.m. who was recognized for writing checks from a closed account in March. Security said a woman was seen who was remembered for writing three checks from a closed TCF Bank account, according to the report. The checks were written for a total amount of $629.46, police said. The woman told police that she knew the account was closed, and was buying food, medicine and other items for her children that she couldn’t afford because she is unemployed, police said. Shantori D. Bell, 28, of the 14100 block of Tracy Street in Riverdale, was charged with deceptive practices.

TUESDAY, MAY 10

Found Bike

Police found a green 26-inch Huffy bicycle left in Brown Park, 14701 Westwood Dr., around 8:40 a.m. The bike was placed in police inventory, and had not been reported missing or stolen, according to the report.
