Orland Park Police Blotter: Return Trip Theft Dump and Cursing at Police

SATURDAY, OCT. 13

Speeding, DUI, Cursing

Police pulled over a car for driving 63 mph in a 45 mph zone in the 17200 block of LaGrange Road around 3:10 a.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol, he didn’t have his driver’s license or insurance, he failed field sobriety tests and originally gave the officer an incorrect address, police said. While in custody, he cursed at officers and another person in custody, police said. Jerome L. Edmond, 33, of the 16100 block of Hillcrest Circle in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an uninsured vehicle, speeding, driving without a valid license and obstructing identification.

Weaving, DUI

Police pulled over an SUV after seeing it drive 50 mph in a 40 mph zone and weave in and out of traffic lanes near 159th Street and 80th Avenue around 3:30 a.m. The man fumbled his license and other cards in his wallet, his breath smelled like alcohol, he failed field sobriety tests and admitted to drinking before driving, police said. Jeremy J. Boat, 34, of the 16500 block of 84th Avenue in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08, speeding and improper lane use.

FRIDAY, OCT. 12

Return Trip

Police were called about a retail theft at JCPenney around 4:15 p.m. Security said they were chasing two women who were suspected of theft, though only one was found with unpaid items from the store on her, police said. Security said the two women were seen taking merchandise into a dressing room, and left the rooms with bags they brought in looking fuller than when they entered, and began following them toward the exit, police said. One woman dropped her bag in the store, and the other exited the store with her bag and took off running when security confronted her, according to the report. The woman threw merchandise as she ran, and eventually returned to the store to dump the rest of the merchandise and left the store again, police said. Items recovered are worth $128, according to the report. Arriona N. Cherry, 24, of the 3700 block of W. 178th Place in Country Club Hills, was charged with retail theft.

Warrant Arrest

Katrina M. Hoover, 49, of the 100 block of Sangamon Street in Chicago was arrested on a warrant for retail theft. She was in custody at the Orland Park Police Department when the warrant was reported around 8:55 p.m., according to the report.
