Orland Park police reports, June 28-Aug. 9

THURSDAY, AUG. 9

DUI, Speeding

Police pulled over a car for driving 38 mph in a 20 mph zone near 157th Street and 80th Avenue around 3:20 a.m. The officer smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. Kevin M. Rettke, 19, of the 15700 block of Deerfield Court in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding.

Return To Store

Police were called to Sears about a retail theft around 7:30 p.m. Security said a woman was seen taking items from the store without paying and walked over to JCPenney to return them, according to the report. The items are worth $105, police said. Zantrence Y. Ford, 18, of the 6300 block of South Normal in Chicago, was charged with retail theft.

Grab, Run, Elbow

Police were called about a retail theft at JCPenney around 12:05 p.m., where the offender was last seen running from the store toward Robert Morris College. Another man was with the offender, and didn’t take anything, but gave police a false name and date of birth, according to the report. Security said a man took a shirt off a display and left the store without paying with the man who gave a false name, police said. When security tried to stop him, the man who took the shirt elbowed the guard’s arm away and ran, according to the report. Derek S. Sallas, 24, of the 8600 block of Golfview Drive in Orland Park, was charged with battery and retail theft. Tyler C. Sallas, 21, of the 8600 block of Golfview Drive in Orland Park, was charged with obstructing identification.

TUESDAY, AUG. 7

Warrant Arrest

Police were called to the Orland Hills Police Department about a man wanted on an Orland Park warrant in their custody around 6:35 p.m. Joshua Runions, 31, of the 16100 block of Haven Avenue in Orland Hills, was arrested on a warrant for retail theft.

THURSDAY, JUNE 28

Domestic Battery

Police were called about a possible domestic dispute near High Point Elementary around 5:35 a.m. A caller said a man was seen dragging a woman away from the baseball park behind the school, police said. An officer caught up with the man and woman walking south on El Cameno Real from 151st Street, and saw the man pushing the woman by the shoulders, police said. The woman told police the man pulled her hair and grabbed her throat during an altercation, police said. The woman had marks on her neck and redness on her arm, and a witness confirmed her descriptions, according to the report. The man denied any issues with him and the woman, police said. Ricardo Castillo-Olivares, 25, of the 9000 block of Kennedy Court in Orland Park, was charged with domestic battery.
