Orland Park Police Blotter: Stroller, Sweater Used for Retail Thefts

Bag and Stroller Filling

Police were called about a woman and a juvenile girl in custody for retail theft around 5:40 p.m. Security said a woman was seen taking three bottles of perfume and placed them under her baby’s blanket she was pushing in a stroller, according to the report. The girl was seen taking several makeup items and appeared to put them in a bag she carried, before the woman and girl left the store without paying for the items, police said. The two also had clothing items from three other stores that were damaged after sensors and tags were removed, according to the report. In total, the two were found with $539.50 of merchandise, police said. Octavia L. Mitchell, 26, of the 15600 block of Turlington in Harvey, was charged with retail theft and criminal damage to property. The girl was released to her sister’s custody.

Warrants Arrest

Police were called by Lockport police about a woman in custody with three active Orland Park warrants, around 8:25 p.m. Renee L. Presley, 19, of the first block of East Clinton Street in Joliet, was arrested on warrants for criminal trespass to residence, retail theft and obstructing identification.

Boots Made for Walking Out of Store

Police were called about a retail theft at Nordstrom Rack around 6:45 p.m. Security said a woman with a backpack was seen selecting a pair of boots, placed a sweater over them and took the sweater and boots into the restroom, police said. She then exited the restroom empty handed, took a pair of mens’ boots, placed them in her bag and walked out of the store without paying for either pair, according to the report. Security found she also walked out wearing a pair of unpaid boots from the store, police said. Libusa Horvathova, 34, of the 5000 block of Circle Court in Crestwood, was charged with retail theft.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 25

Stop

Police on patrol saw a vehicle cross over lane lines three different times, before coming to a complete stop for no clear reason on Brassie Drive north of Wheeler Avenue around 7:40 p.m. The driver slurred her speech, her breath smelled like alcohol and she failed field sobriety tests, police said. Eileen E. Coglianese, 63, of the 18000 block of Royal Oak Court in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use.
