SUNDAY OCT. 23

Warrant Arrest

Police pulled over a car for swerving near 135th Street and Elm Street around 6:20 p.m. The driver was noticeably upset, but the officer did not smell alcohol and the driver didn’t show signs of intoxication while walking around outside the car, police said. A warrant was found for her arrest, according to the report. Laura A. Nilsen, 23, of the 14100 block of Sterling Drive in Orland Park, was arrested on a warrant for bond forfeiture in relation to a criminal damage to property charge.

SATURDAY, OCT. 22

Retail Theft

Police were called about a retail theft at the Gap in Orland Square Mall around 6:10 p.m. A woman took $136.26 worth of clothes and left the store without paying, police said. Laura L. Washington, 52, of the 2700 block of East Paulding Road in Fort Wayne, Ind., was charged with retail theft.

MONDAY, OCT. 17

Warrant Arrest

Ahmed M. Abbas, 26, of the 9300 block of Meadowview Drive in Orland Hills, was arrested on a failure-to-appear warrant for resisting a peace officer. He turned himself in to the Orland Park Police Department around 5:30 p.m.

SUNDAY, OCT. 16

Sucker Punch

Police were called about a battery in the 16700 block of Robinhood Drive around 5 p.m. A man was found nearby in the 8600 block of 167th Place who matched the description given of the one responsible for the battery, police said. The man refused to be taken into custody, had to be pinned to the ground by two officers to get handcuffs on him and the officers smelled alcohol on his breath, police said. Earlier in the night, the man had gotten into an argument with another man, punched him and the other man fell to the ground, bumping his head on pavement, according to the report. John M. Quinn, 33, of the 1800 block of Parkside Drive in Shorewood, was charged with battery.

SATURDAY, OCT. 15

Tag Team

Police were called about a retail theft at the Gap in Orland Square Mall around 1:55 p.m. Store security told police that two women were seen committing retail theft, according to the report. An officer tried to stop the women while they were walking in the mall’s parking lot, police said. One stopped for the officer, while the other woman took off running, but was caught by another officer. Merchandise from two stores were found worth $556.74. Security later said a woman and a girl were helping each other take items from stores, police said. The juvenile was turned over to her mother later at the Orland Park Police Department. Latriche N. Jennings, 22, of the 13100 block of South Daniel Drive in Chicago, was charged with retail theft.
