SUNDAY, NOV. 18

Speed, Swerve

Police pulled over a car for driving 56 mph in a 40 mph zone and crossing over lane lines on 143rd Street at Claridge Road around 3:25 a.m. The inside of the car smelled like burnt marijuana, the driver’s breath smelled like alcohol and he slurred his speech while talking to officers, police said. He also failed field sobriety tests, and an officer found a bag of marijuana in the car, the amount of which therein was not listed, according to the report. Sahil J. Desai, 25, of the 11500 block of Brookshire Drive in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

Sudden Swerving

Police pulled over an SUV after seeing it swerve between lanes suddenly, and without signaling, on 73rd Avenue near 151st Street around 7:55 p.m. The driver’s eyelids were hanging low, she failed field sobriety tests and officers found two containers of prescriptions, both valid and in her name, within the SUV, police said. Debra A. Gonzalez, 50, of the 8100 block of 174th Street in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, improper lane use and failure to signal.

FRIDAY, NOV. 16

Stroller Strut

Police were called about a retail theft at JCPenney around 8:45 p.m. Security said two women were seen pushing strollers through the store, taking merchandise into dressing rooms and then leaving the rooms with less visible merchandise, police said. The women then left the store without paying, and were found with about a total of $330 of merchandise, according to the report. Ariana E. Juarez, 23, and Bianca Juarez, 20, both of the 14500 block of Whipple Avenue in Posen, were each charged with retail theft.

Purse Fill

Police were called to Macy’s about a retail theft around 3:15 p.m. Security said a woman was seen taking random items of merchandise and went into a dressing room, police said. Her purse was noticeably more full when she left the dressing room, and no items were left behind, police said. She then left the store without paying, police said. Jessica A. McCoy, 27, of the 5900 block of Lake Bluff Drive in Tinley Park, was charged with retail theft.

THURSDAY, NOV. 15

Car Won’t Start

Police saw a car broke down in the 14500 block of LaGrange Road around 3:20 a.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol, he slurred his speech and failed field sobriety tests, police said. Joshua J. Tafia, 37, of the 7200 block of Evans Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol greater than .08.
