Orland Park Police Blotter: Woman Insults Co-Worker, Punches Other Co-Worker

SUNDAY, DEC. 23

Bags Full

Police were called about a retail theft at Macy’s around 6:30 p.m. Security said a woman carrying multiple bags was seen selecting items and then walked into a dressing room, police said. The woman’s bags appeared more full when she left the dressing room and she left the store without paying, police said. She was found with $929.50 worth of unpaid items, according to the report. Esthela E. Chavez, 31, of the 5700 block of Brosam Drive in Plainfield, was charged with felony retail theft.

Stealing Store Credit

Police were called about employees using false store credit at Buy Buy Baby, 290 Orland Park Place, around 7:05 p.m. Security said they were investigating two employees who had used receipts from small purchases to then use on fraudulent transactions at their registers, and build up false store credit, police said. Ferrice R. Hollins, 24, of the 1000 block of 41st Place in Chicago, and Ashley L. Wilson, 22, of the 14500 block of Union Avenue in Harvey, were each charged with felony retail theft. Hollins was accused of racking up $1,641.80 of fraudulent store credit, while Wilson was accused of building $1087.99 of store credit, according to the report.

Honesty

Police were called about a car parked in a driveway that didn’t belong there in the 9200 block of Lakeview Drive around 2:15 a.m., and a passenger had urinated on a nearby house. Both men in the car told the responding officer that they parked there because they had been drinking and didn’t want to be out on the road, police said. The man in the driver’s seat smelled like alcohol and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. Two glass pipes with marijuana residue on them were found in the car, according to the report. Michael K. Koch, 26, of the 8900 block of Edgewood Court in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08 and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Borrowing a Stolen Car for Theft

Police were patrolling the Orland Square Mall parking lot, when they checked registration on a car around 4:35 p.m. and found it was reported stolen. Two women walked up to the car, put items in the trunk and entered the car, when police blocked it from moving, according to the report. Police found clothing and accessories in their possession that were taken without having paid for them, some with missing security tags and others with aluminum foil around the tags, police said. One woman said she borrowed the car from a woman named Darlene Jones, who was listed as a suspect for the stolen car, police said.  Tashia N. Allen, 23, of the 8400 block of South Aberdeen Street in Chicago, and Alisha L. Ratley, 24, of the 8500 block of South Parnell Avenue in Chicago, were each charged with theft and criminal trespass to a vehicle. Ratley was also arrested on an outstanding Cook County warrant for retail theft.

THURSDAY, DEC. 20

Insults, Punching

Police were called about a battery in the 14400 block of John Humphrey Drive around 8:45 a.m. An officer found a woman with a scratch going from the right corner of her mouth toward her right ear, a cut on her upper nose and swelling and bruising on her right temple, police said. The woman said she was arguing with a co-worker, who had just insulted another co-worker, when the co-worker grabbed her face and punched her several times in the face, police said. Biancashay M. Walton, 25, of the 3300 block of Roesner Drive in Markham, was charged with battery.

Hotel?

Police followed a truck that was driving without headlights while it turned toward an apartment complex in the 16000 block of 88th Avenue around 11:45 p.m., and it parked in front of the building.  A man stepped out of the truck, walked over to the squad car and said he was looking for a hotel, police said. The man’s breath smelled like alcohol, his speech was slurred and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. Patrick C. Briggs, 33, of the 1600 block of Olive Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08 and driving at night without headlights turned on.
