Orland Park police reports: Sept. 13-22

SATURDAY, SEPT. 22

Pole Strike

Police saw an SUV back up into a light pole, causing the pole to shake, in a parking lot in the 14400 block of LaGrange Road around 2 a.m. The SUV matched earlier descriptions called in about an erratically driving vehicle, police said. The driver pulled away without checking the pole for damage, heading north on LaGrange Road when the SUV was pulled over, according to the report. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol, he stumbled as he exited the SUV and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. Neither his SUV nor the pole were heavily damaged, according to the report. Antonio Aguilar, 55, of the 7800 block of Keystone Road in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level of .08 and failure to give information after striking property.

Tags Off Jewels

Police were called about a retail theft at Carson Pirie Scott around 1:55 p.m. Security said a woman was seen taking price tags of pieces of jewelry before putting them in her purse, and leaving the store without paying, police said. Amparo Arroyo, 30, of the 5000 block of Lockwood Avenue in Stickney, was charged with retail theft.

Three Store Tour

Police were called to Orland Square Mall about a retail theft around 3:25 p.m. Security said two women were seen taking items at three different stores in the mall, placing them in their purses and leaving the stores without paying, according to the report. Alexsia R. Bradley, 23, of the first block of West Maine Street in Chicago Heights, and Janease L. Nelson, 19, of the 200 block of West Normandy Drive in Chicago Heights, were each charged with retail theft.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 14

Wrapped Cups

Police were called about a retail theft at Macy’s around 6:10 p.m. Security said a woman was seen taking items into a dressing room, exiting without the items seen in the open, then taking children’s clothing and wrapping two coffee cups in them, before taking a swim suit from a display and going back into a dressing room, according to the report. She left the dressing room without any items in view, and left the store without paying for any items, police said. She was found with $194 of merchandise in her purse, police said. Olga Lepacek, 54, of the 7200 block of Heather Trail in Justice, was charged with retail theft.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 13

Domestic Battery

Police were called to Twin Lakes Drive around 10:50 p.m. about a domestic battery. A woman said a man grabbed her neck, pushed her into a wall, struck her in the face with a sandal and scratched her hand, police said. The woman had marks on her neck and hand consistent with her testimony, police said. Azeemuddin Ahmed, 64, of the 11300 block of Twin Lakes Drive in Orland Park, was charged with domestic battery.
