Orland Park Police Blotter: Man Caught Stealing from 4 Stores

Orland Park police reports from Dec. 31 to Jan. 4

MONDAY, DEC. 31

Retail theft from 4 stores

Davida Whatley, 31 of 14512 Vail in Dixmoor, was arrested Dec. 31 after taking four boxes of perfume without paying from Sephora at Orland Square Mall, police said.

When stopped by police, Whatley was found in possession of stolen clothing from three other stores in the mall, Gap Kids, H&M and Love Culture, police said.

Police said she had also been arrested in November for stealing merchandise from Macy's.

She was charged with multiple counts of retail theft, possession of stolen property and criminal damage to property, and given a court date at the Bridgeview courthouse.

THURSDAY, JAN. 3

Notre Dame fan arrested

Thomas Derrico, 42, of Braidwood, was charged with retail theft after taking fleece pants and two Notre Dame shirts without paying from JCPenney at Orland Square Mall, police said.

Police said Derrico was stopped outside of the store with two pair of pants and a Notre Dame jersey in a bag. He was wearing a Notre Dame hoodie that he had also taken, police said. The merchandise was worth $98.

He was charged with retail theft.

Pair arrested for retail theft

Two women were arrested for taking merchandise without paying from the Sears store at Orland Square Mall, police said.

Danielle Monrow, 18, of 3613 Wheelwood Court in Hazel Crest, was charged with retail theft for taking $381.50 worth of clothes, police said.

Her companion, Dellissta Rogers, 18, of 16405 Oxford Drive in Markham, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft for taking $96 worth of clothing from the store, police said.

FRIDAY, JAN. 4

Gamestop employee charged

Wynona Hicks, 20, of 4019 W. 206th St. in Matteson, an employee at Gamestop was arrested for stealing video games and returning them for cash from Nov. 27 to Dec. 29, police said.

Police said that while doing her job, Hicks would take the games out of stock and trade them back in for cash.

In their report, police said Hicks also stole an iPhone and an iPod touch.

She was charged with retail theft.

Jackets taken

Renukaben Kathiria, 39, of Kent, Wash., was charged with retail theft after taking three coats worth $287 from the Macy's store at Orland Square Mall, police said.
