Police Blotter: Assailant Threatened Restaurant Crowd After Driving Over Trees

Orland Park police reports, April 5-May 2

MONDAY, MAY 2

Alcohol-tosis

Bryan C. Dewitt, 28, of the 14400 block of Campbell Street in Posen, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and speeding. Police said they stopped Dewitt’s car in the 6800 block of Oak Park Avenue around 12:15 a.m. for driving 65 mph in a 40 mph zone and smelled alcohol on his breath.

No Parking 

Theodore J. Rak, 36, of the 1200 block of Montrose Avenue in Chicago, was charged with DUI and improper parking on the roadway. Police said they found Rak around 12:30 a.m. in his car, with the hazard lights on, parked in the 14800 block of La Grange Road. Police smelled alcohol on his breath, and Rak told them he was coming from a wedding, according to the report.

Open Booze, Pills Along for the Ride

Jose L. Moto-Munoz, 28, of the 910 block of Kennedy Court in Orland Park, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid driver’s license and improper lane usage. Police said they stopped Moto-Munoz’s car in the 9500 block of 147th Street around 2 a.m. for drifting between lanes. Inside his car police found several opened and unopened cans of beer and an unlabeled bottle of pills later identified as Adderall, according to the report.

Nearly Hit Cop

Benjamin P. Cash, 27, of the 2200 block of Bogdan Lane in Joliet, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage. Police said they stopped Cash’s car at 159th Street and 108th Avenue around 2 a.m. for crossing into oncoming traffic and nearly colliding with a squad car.

Swerving Between Lanes

Thomas G. Moore, 31, of the 16500 block of Cranberry Court in Tinley Park, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage. Police said they stopped Moore’s car in the 8300 block of 159th Street around 4 a.m. for swerving between lanes.

SATURDAY, APRIL 30

Felony Retail Theft

Laura C. Tolan, 41, of the 8000 block of 126th Street in Palos Park, was charged with felony retail theft. Police said Tolan left an Orland Square department store around 1:15 p.m. without paying for several articles of clothing.

DUI Accident

Jeremy R. Tooth, 23, of the 14500 block of Aspen Street in Orland Park, was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid accident. He was arrested in the 9000 block of Fairway Drive around 3:30 a.m. after causing an accident, police said.

Minor Possession

Three underage women were accused of harboring alcohol and pot. Police were called to the 8900 block of Patty Lane around 2:30 a.m. about a car honking its horn in the street. Inside that car police found several unopened cans of beers, one opened beer, a metal grinder and a pipe with residual marijuana, according to the report.

Brooke C. Fry, 18, of the 8900 block of Patty Lane, and Cody K. Kamberos, 19, of the 0-100 block of Aspen Court in Lemont, were charged with illegal possession of alcohol. Kryzysztof Rebidas, 19, of the 700 block of McCarthy Street in Lemont, was charged with illegal possession of alcohol and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.

THURSDAY, APRIL 28

Endangering Children

Julie A. Robles, 41, of the 14300 block of Clearview Court in Orland Park, was charged with two counts of endangering the life of a child. Police said Robles left her 1-year-old and 5-year-old children in her car for more than 10 minutes while she shopped inside Michaels, 15102 S. La Grange Rd., around 2:30 p.m. The children were turned over to their older sister.

TUESDAY, APRIL 26

Drug or Synthetic Drug, Cops Say It's Illegal

Two men were  accused of smoking marijuana outside LensCrafters, 856 Orland Square, around 8 p.m. When questioned, they allegedly handed over 1.5 grams of synthetic cannabis, which is typically sold for incense, not smoking, but is illegal nonetheless. Amir Khreisheh, 19, of the 10400 block of Circle Drive in Oak Lawn, and Muhammad G. Aburizek, 19, of the 7300 block of 79 th Street in Bridgeview, were charged with possession of cannabis. 

Car Keyed

Sometime between 11 and 11:30 a.m. on April 29, a car parked outside JC Penny’s was keyed, police said. Profanity was allegedly gashed several inches wide on the side of the car.

MONDAY, APRIL 25

Domestic Beating, Spraying

Sepas A. Siddiqui, 19, of the 11100 block of Woodstock Drive in Orland Park, was charged with domestic battery and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said Siddiqui was driving on Wolf Road around 8:30 p.m. when he got into an argument with a female passenger. He sprayed her in the face with pepper spray and then repeatedly punched her shoulder, police said. She fought back and was pushed out of the car when it came to a stop at Corso Drive and Avenel Drive, according to the report. Siddiqui chased her through a nearby park and pulled her to the ground by her hair before punching and kicking her, police said.

Siddiqui allegedly took the woman’s purse, cell phones and shoes when he left. The woman wandered to a nearby home, where a man helped her inside and called police. She was later taken to a hospital.

In Siddiqui’s car police found a pipe with residual marijuana, police said. He was arrested that night at his home.

SATURDAY, APRIL 23

Accused Assailant Disturbs Restaurant, Drove Over Trees

Nicholas J. Piwowarski, 24, of the 15500 block of Wherry Lane in Orland Park, was charged with assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to give information after striking property. Police said Piwowarski entered a restaurant in the 14800 block of La Grange around 3:30 p.m. with two friends and began demanding a table, using profanity. Staff asked Piwowarski to leave, but he seated himself. He then threatened to beat up a customer who tried defusing the situation, police said.

In Piwowarski’s car police found a marble pipe with residual marijuana, according to the report. They noted “very heavy front-end damage” to his truck and determined that he had struck three trees between the restaurant parking lot and another parking lot on 143rd Street, east of La Grange Road.

THURSDAY, APRIL 21

Accused Shoplifters Had Outstanding Driving, Prostitution Warrants

A man and woman were accused of stealing from a cosmetic store in the 15700 block of La Grange Road around 6:30 p.m. Police said the couple put $334 worth of perfumes inside a theft-detection bag and left without paying.

Antoinette R. Pearson, 29, of the 8100 block of Thurston Avenue in Milwaukee, Wis., and Thomas L. Ware, 41, of the 0-100 block of Longwood Place in Elgin, were charged with retail theft and retail theft shielding device.

Police said both Pearson and Ware had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Pearson was wanted in DuPage county on two charges of prostitution, and Ware was wanted in Hanover Park for driving without a valid license.

FRIDAY, APRIL 8

Department Store Theft

Two women were accused of stealing from an Orland Square Mall department store around 5 p.m. Police said Alaa A. Ahmad, 22, and Aheda A. Barakat, 49, roommates from the 1100 block of Williard Street in Urbana, put jewelry in their pockets and left without paying.
