Police Blotter: Cane Cracking, Stealing from Stores

Orland Park police reports, June 25-July 8

FRIDAY, JULY 8

Sears Theft

Liesel M. Martinez, 27, no residence provided, was charged with retail theft. Loss prevention at Sears, 2 Orland Square Drive, reported seeing Martinez place six pairs of shoes into her purse and take three pairs of jeans into a fitting room just after 3 p.m. Martinez was released on bond.

Kohl's Theft

Damonica D. Curtis, 21, of the 3000 block of 140th Street in Blue Island, was charged with retail theft. Loss prevention at Kohl's, 3 Orland Park Place, reported seeing Curtis place some clothes into a shopping cart and enter a fitting room around 5:45 p.m. When Curtis left the fitting room, the cart was full of empty hangers, according to the report. Security recovered nearly $250 in clothing items, police said. Curtis was released on bond.

Domestic Battery

Gary W. Jadin, 60, of the 15500 block of Lakeside Drive in Orland Park, was charged with domestic battery. Police were called to the address after a woman said she was punched by Jadin around 8 p.m. Bail was set July 7.

Marshall's Theft

Britne E. Porter, 21, of the 1200 block of West 73rd Street in Chicago, was cited for retail theft. Loss prevention at Marshall's, 101 Orland Park Place, reported seeing Porter take sunglasses off a display and place them in her purse around 8:30 p.m. Porter was later released at the scene.

TUESDAY, JULY 5

Carson's Theft

Stephanie Perez, 20, of the 16300 block of Terrace Court in Orland Hills, was cited for retail theft. Loss prevention at Carson Pirie Scott, 4 Orland Square Drive, reported seeing Perez place a ring in her pocket and take a watch from a display and try to obtain a refund for it around 2 p.m. Perez was released at the scene.

SUNDAY, JULY 3

Battery

Crista L. Olufs, 49, of the 900 block of Everette Road in Lake Bluff, was charged with battery, criminal trespassing, resisting a peace officer, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police were called to the 15300 block of Treetop Drive to help Olufs pick up some of her property from a home. After Olufs entered the home, the officer heard fighting around 5:15 p.m. The victim said Olufs struck her with a metal cane. When officers placed Olufs under arrest, she resisted being handcuffed, police said. Once at the station, police found cannabis and a metal pipe in Olufs' purse, police said. Olufs was released on bond.

FRIDAY, JULY 1

In-State Warrant and Cannabis

Trevor J. Douyon, 25, of the 20700 block of Brookwood Drive in Olympia Fields, was arrested on an in-state warrant and cited for possession of cannabis. Police stopped Douyon in the 9400 block of 143rd Street for speeding around 8:30 p.m. A LaSalle County warrant for possession of cannabis was found, police said.  Officers also found cannabis in the center console, according to the report. Douyon was released on bond.

SATURDAY, JUNE 25

DUI Over the Limit

Janet A. Haug, 69, of the 8100 block of West 168th Place in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level over 0.08 and improper lane use. Police on patrol in the 7600 block of 159th Street saw a car begin to weave over the double yellow lane marker around 12:50 a.m., according to the report. The officer smelled alcohol on Haug's breath and Haug later failed field sobriety tests, police said. Haug was released on bond.
