TUESDAY, JAN. 10

Theft Charges All Around

Four adults from Chicago and one juvenile were charged with theft. Police said they saw the group of people enter the Orland Square Mall around 6:15 p.m. with shopping bags in their hand and then periodically return to the car over the course of 45 minutes. The car was curbed after rolling through a stop sign and making a wide turn across lanes, according to the report.

In the car, officers found several articles of clothing from multiple stores with the security tags still attached, police said.

Charged with theft were Anthony E. Polk, 24, of the 1500 block of 71st Street in Chicago; as well as Paris V. Triplett, 22; Rickima L. Buckley, 19; and Shaquita Triplett, 23; all of the 5000 block of Aberdeen Street in Chicago.

Shaquita Triplett, the driver, was also issued traffic warnings.

MONDAY, JAN. 9

Disorderly Conduct

Two men were issued tickets for disorderly conduct and banned from Orland Square Mall for one year. Witnesses told police that the men later identified as Richard A. Gorman, 22, of the 2400 block of York Street in Blue Island, and Charles M. Timms, 20, of the 17700 block of Sayre Avenue in Tinley Park, started an argument with two other men around 7 p.m. and shoved one of them before running away, according to the report. The men refused to sign complaints for battery.

THURSDAY, JAN. 5

Hit and Run

Nicholas J. Fountas, 19, of the 14100 block of Trenton Drive in Orland Park, was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, reckless driving and illegal possession of cannabis. Witnesses told police that Fountas’ car struck and knocked over a light pole at 137th Street and 92nd Avenue around 1 a.m., creating “an arch across the roadway.” Scattered across the pavement were several personal items, including a luggage tag belonging to a woman who accused Fountas of domestic abuse last year, police said. While officers questioned witnesses, Fountas allegedly returned to the scene, driving underneath the downed light pole, but refused to stop, accoring to the report.

His car was reported in bad shape, with heavy side damage and skidding tires, according to the report. Police said they recognized Fountas from previous incidents and later found his car in his driveway. After it was towed, a blunt was found in the driver’s side door, police said. According to the report, he turned himself in at the police station half a day later.

Fake Credit Card

Jasmine L. Williams, 22, of the 6900 block of Prairie Avenue in Chicago, was charged with use of a counterfeit credit card, disobeying a stop sign, driving without a valid license and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. Police said Williams used a fake credit card to purchase several electronic items from a store in the 15800 block of LaGrange Road around 6 p.m. Two other people with her at the time were released without charges.
