Police Blotter: J-Walking With Marijuana; Credit Card Fraud

Orland Park police reports, Feb. 27 - March 9

March 9

J-Walker

Jeffrey P. Sabia, 24, of the 7300 block of Canterbury Place in Downers Grove, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they questioned Sabia around 4:45 p.m. about j-walking across LaGrange Road at 153rd Street and found marijuana and a pipe on him.

March 7

Chapstick Smoker

Sean T. Cassidy, 19, of the 10300 block of O’Connell Street in Mokena, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they stopped Cassidy’s car in the 15800 block of LaGrange Road around 8:45 p.m. for improperly displaying his front license plate in his front window. In his car, they found a glass pipe and chapstick tube used to smoke marijuana, according to the report.

Windows Down

Samer Z. Bata, 20, of the 15800 block of Orlan Brook Drive in Orland Park, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they questioned Bata about sitting in a car parked in front of his home around 9 p.m. with the windows down and found a pipe on him.

March 6

DUI, Marijuana Cited

Brian W. Hrascinski, 25, of the 700 block of 196th Street in Chicago Heights, was charged with DUI, failure to signal, improper lane usage, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police said they stopped Hrascinski’s car in the 8300 block of 159th Street around 3:30 a.m. for swerving, speeding and turning without a signal. In his car, they found more than 5 grams of marijuana and pipe, according to the report.

March 5

Old, New Thefts Cited

Leslie D. Peck, 36, of the 14100 block of Atlantic Street in Riverdale, was charged with retail theft and possession of cannabis. Orland Square Mall security told police that Peck left a department store around 11:30 a.m. with four pieces of children’s clothing in her purse. Police said they stopped Peck’s car in the mall parking lot and found a bag of marijuana in the center console.

Peck had two active warrants for retail theft from Orland Park and DuPage County, according to the report.

Wristwatches

Three Tinley Park housemates were arrested for stealing four wristwatches worth a total of $99 from a department store in Orland Square Mall around 3:30 p.m., police said.

Varsha R. Gajjar, 43; Agneshkumar K. Patel, 37; and Neelem S. Patel, 26, were charged with retail theft. They all live in the 8500 block of Steeple Drive in Tinley Park, according to the report.

March 1

Credit Card Fraud

Three Chicago women were accused of harboring and using fake credit cards after police stopped their car in the 9400 block of 159th Street around 8:30 p.m. for turning without a signal, according the report. Inside their car, police found 37 fraudulent credit cards, some of which had been used minutes earlier to purchase clothing from Orland Square Mall, police said.

Michelle L. Crayton, 25, of the 8500 block of Mansitee Avenue; Stacy L. Blackwell, 24, of the 4200 block of Vincennes Avenue; and Deloverly J. Robinson, 24, of the 6900 block of Eberhardt Avenue, were charged with receiving credit card of another and counterfeiting credit card.

Robinson was also arrested on a DuPage County warrant for credit card fraud, police said.

FEB. 27

Minor Consumption

Edward D. Smith, 20, of the 16200 block of 92nd Avenue, was charged with underage consumption of alcohol, no front registration plate displayed and no proof of insurance. Police said they stopped his car in the 15300 block of LaGrange Road around 2:45 a.m. for driving without a front license plate.

A passenger, Christopher M. Daniels, 19, of the 16200 block of 92nd Avenue, was also charged with underage consumption of alcohol.
