Man Threatens With Knife, Throws Candle Holders

Police were called around 1:10 a.m. on Sept. 14 by a man who said he was attacked by another man with a knife in the 13800 block of Maple. Police said the two were arguing about a vehicle when one threw a ceramic candle holder at the other's leg and choked him while striking him with another candle holder. The assailant then grabbed a knife and threatened the other, according to the police report.  The man denied brandishing a knife, but admitted to throwing the candle holders, police said. Officers said they found a kitchen knife sitting next to where the candle holders were placed. Omar A. Baker, 36, of Orland Park, was charged with battery, domestic battery and two counts of aggravated assault.

A woman with a shopping bag was seen taking four items into a dressing room at Kohl's, 3 Orland Park Place, and leaving with two, police said. When the woman was stopped, the bag was empty but the other two clothing items worth $62 were found in her purse, police said. Rhonda K. Moore, 28, of Oswego, was charged with retail theft on Sept. 10 around 3:40 pm.

Security at Macy's, 1 Orland Square Dr., told police three women were seen taking pairs of jeans into the fitting rooms and then leaving without them at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. Chiquita Brown and Mary Conway, both 18, of Harvey, and Joenequia Lucas, 19, of Markham, were each charged with retail theft.

Warrant Arrest: Forgery

While checking registrations the evening of Sept. 13 on cars parked at Orland Square Mall, police discovered a Park Forest woman was wanted on forgery charges in Lake County. Winter S. Cole, 30, of Park Forest, was arrested and handed over to Lake County Sheriff's Police the next day.

A Little Old For Kids Clothes

At 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 7, a man was seen on surveillance putting children's clothes into a bag at JCPenney, 3 Orland Square Drive, police said. Security recovered $1,809 worth of merchandise when the man was stopped, police said. Demiyus Koger, 26, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft.
