Police Blotter: No One Reported Injured in DUI Accident

Orland Park police reports, March 11-13

March 17

Unpaid Towels, Cologne

Rihab H. Shoubaki, 53, of the 15400 block of Yorkshire Lane in Orland Park, was charged with retail theft. Orland Square Mall security told police that Shoubaki left a department store around 7 p.m. with several unpaid towels and a bottle of men’s cologne in her cart.

Speeding

Robert A. Wirtschoreck, 19, of the 16500 block of Delaware Road in Lockport, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding. Police said they stopped Wirtschoreck’s car at 143rd Street and LaGrange Road around 2 a.m. for driving 53 mph in a 40 mph zone and found a pipe in his jacket.

March 16

DUI Accident

Katie A. Drish, 24, of the 19400 block of Wolf Road in Mokena, was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid accident. Police said Drish rear ended a car in the 14900 block of LaGrange Road around 1:30 p.m. No one was reported injured.

March 15

Cannabis Cove

Tomasz Drozd, 26, of the 4900 block of Lockwood Street in Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they saw Drozd smoking marijuana in the Marcus Theatre parking lot around 8:30 p.m. As the officer was about to approach Drozd and a friend they drove away, police said.

They were stopped minutes later at 163rd Street and LaGrange Road, and in Drozd’s car police found bags and jars containing marijuana crumbs, four bowls, a grinder and one pipe, according to the report.

March 14

Orland Park, Lemont Arrest

James V. Hoffman, 44, of the 600 block of 1st Street in Lemont, was charged with retail theft. Security at a retail store in the 15800 block of 94th Avenue told police that Hoffman put two DVD box sets in his coat and fled the shopping center in his car around 11:30 a.m.

Orland Park police were able to pull the license plate number off surveillance footage, and on March 20 Lemont police arrested him, according to the report.

No Headlights

Leslie M. Allen, 26, of the 22300 block of Newcastle Court in Shorewood, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and operating a vehicle without headlights when required. Police said they stopped Allen’s car in the 16100 block of LaGrange Road around 1:45 a.m. for driving without headlights and striking the curb.

Wrong Lane

Michelle M. Musial, 23, of the 14600 block of Abbott Road in Homer Glen, was charged with DUI, driving in the wrong lane and improper lane usage. Police said they stopped Musial’s car at 151st Street and LaGrange Road around 2 a.m. for swerving and headed west on 151st while driving in the eastbound lane.

March 13

After Closing Hours

Steve H. Bader, 24, of the 13300 block of Mackinaw Avenue in Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis, speeding and driving on a suspended license. Police said they began following Bader’s car after it pulled out of Centennial Park around 4:45 p.m., after closing hours. They stopped him in the 16400 block of 88th Avenue for driving 40 mph in a 30 mph zone speeding and found a bag of marijuana in his car, according to the report.

March 11

Pat Down

Asem G. Sweis, 27, of the 8000 block of Kirkland Avenue in Chicago, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they stopped Sweis’s car at a seat belt check point in the 14200 block of LaGrange Road around 11:15 p.m. and smelled marijuana. During a pat down, police found a pipe in Asem’s pocket during a pat down, according to the report.
