Police Blotter: Pink Slip and Three Fingers of Vodka

SUNDAY, SEPT. 26

Three Fingers and a Dog: DUI

Martin J. Ksiazek, 47, of the 5900 block of West Essex Street, Oak Forest, was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed after he rear-ended a car at 4:45 in the 8100 block of West 159th Street on his way to Orland Square Mall, police said.

Ksiazek told police he drank "three fingers of vodka" before the crash, and witnesses said he couldn't stay balanced as he shouted profanities, police said. Ksiazek's dog was in the car at the time and was also taken to the police station, according to the report.

Saturday, SEPT. 25

Pink Slip: Retail Theft

Police said they were called about a retail theft at Orland Square Mall around 6:45 p.m. Dachanda M. Norman, 32, of the 9200 block of May Street in Chicago, put a pink jacket in her purse and left a clothing store without paying, according to the police report.

Mall security found another jacket and leggings from another store in her purse, bringing total value of the taken items to $119, police said. Norman was charged with two counts of retail theft.
