Orland Park police reports, June 25 to July 1

FRIDAY, JULY 1

Retail Theft

Shacongo A. Harris, 22, of the 100 block of Cloverleaf Road in Matteson, was charged with retail theft. A manager at the Discovery Clothing Co., 15645 LaGrange Rd., saw Harris remove sensor tags from two items of clothing and put the clothes in her purse just after 1 p.m., police said. Harris was released on bond.

DUI

Alain J. Mejia, 33, of the 200 block of Willow Boulevard in Willow Springs, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an uninsured vehicle and speeding. Police on patrol in the 16700 block of Wolf Road clocked Mejia going over 70 mph just after 3:30 a.m. The officer saw Mejia stumble out of his car and smelled alcohol on his breath, according to the report. Mejia was released on bond.

THURSDAY, JUNE 30

DUI

Elizabeth J. Beck, 25, of the 8100 block of Broadmoor Drive in Palos Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police were in the 9700 block of Ravinia Lane regarding reports of a loud argument. Beck was to pick up one of the men who was arguing, police said. Both the man and police instructed Beck to stay where she was if she had been drinking, according to the report. When Beck arrived at 12:20 a.m., the officer smelled alcohol on her breath. Beck was later released on bond.

No Seat Belts, Stolen Property

Erica S. Jeffries, 23, of the 8700 block of South Ada in Chicago, was charged with failure to wear a seat belt, no insurance and theft. Kimberly Jones, 24, of the 5600 block of South Paulina in Chicago, and Venita M. Edwards, 23, of the 1200 block of West 49th Street in Chicago, were each charged with theft. Police on patrol in the Orland Square Mall parking lot saw Jeffries remove clothing items from her purse and put them in her trunk, and police also saw Jones empty her purse into the trunk, according to the report. The women went back into the mall and returned around 2 p.m. Police stopped Jeffries for not wearing a seat belt and asked about the merchandise. None of the women had receipts, according to the report. The combined value of the clothes and shoes recovered was just over $650, police said.

Assault on a Shopping Trip

Tonia L. Brown, 18, of the 9000 block of Carpenter Avenue in Chicago, was charged with assault. Police went to the Discovery Clothing Store, 15645 LaGrange Rd., after a woman said she was threatened by Brown just before 7 p.m. The victim, who was a store employee, suspected Brown and two other women with her were attempting to steal items. The victim said Brown threatened to punch her if she did not leave them alone, according to the report. Brown was later released on bond.

TUESDAY, JUNE 28

Aggravated Assault

Joseph M. Rubino, 20, of the 14500 block of South 87th Avenue in Orland Park, was charged with domestic aggravated assault. Police responded to the address around 4:30 p.m. regarding a domestic argument. A woman said Rubino was holding a knife and being violent, according to the report. He threatened a man with the knife, police said. Bail was set June 29.

SATURDAY, JUNE 25

DUI and Accident

Ryan M. Westwater, 20, of the 9400 block of Hitchcock Boulevard in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to notify the Secretary of State of an address change, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving an uninsured vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Police were called about an accident at the intersection of 104th Avenue and 179th Street around 11:15 p.m. The officer smelled alcohol on Westwater's breath, and a search of the car found 11 full bottles of beer in the trunk, police said. Westwater was also cited for underage consumption. He was released on bond.

DUI

Donald R. Adduci, 21, of the 1900 block of Lakewood Drive in Wilmington, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, suspended registration and driving an uninsured vehicle. A caller in the 8600 block of Shagbark Court called police after seeing Adduci get in his car and drive away just before 10:30 p.m., according to the report. The officer smelled alcohol on Adduci's breath, and Adduci failed field sobriety tests, police said. Adduci was released on bond.
