Police Blotter: Retail Thefts, Fighting at Orland Days

Orland Park police reports, June 2-23

THURSDAY, JUNE 23

DUI Over the Limit

Stephen L. Thorne, 46, of the 16800 block of Vicky Lane in Orland Hills, was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content greater than .08, driving an uninsured vehicle, and was cited with traffic tickets relating to an accident. Police responded to a car accident in the 16800 block of 88th Avenue around 2:30 a.m. The driver was standing next to his car when police arrived and said he crashed into a piece of paving equipment on the side of the road, police said. During the conversation, the officer smelled alcohol on Thorne's breath, police said.

Retail Theft

Nicholas R. Fry, 32, of the 10900 block of Front Street in Mokena, was charged with retail theft. Police were called to Best Buy, 15800 LaGrange Road, around 8 p.m. The store manager said he saw Fry remove a package of ear-bud style headphones from the shelf and conceal them in his pocket. He paid for two CD's, but not the ear buds, police said.

Theft

Ronesha S. Foots, 23, of the 6400 block of South King Drive in Chicago and Pierra J. Dawson, 23, of the 5400 block of South Hyde Park Boulevard in Chicago, were charged with theft. According to the report, police saw three women leaving the mall at 6 p.m. One of the women was seen removing several clothing items from a handbag into the trunk, according to the report. Later, police stopped Dawson and Foots in the 9200 block of 159th Street after noticing Dawson was not wearing a seat belt. When asked, Foots admitted that they had stolen items outs of Orland Square Mall, police said.

SATURDAY, JUNE 18

Retail Theft

Sonia Adjiwanou, 21, of the 8600 block of South 86th Avenue in Justice, was charged with retail theft. According to the report, Adjiwanou was seen by loss prevention at Macy's, 1 Orland Square Drive, concealing various items in her purse around 4:30 p.m.

Retail Theft

Grazyna Bugajski, 47. of the 11700 block of Cooper Way in Orland Park, was cited for retail theft. Lloss prevention from Kohl's, 3 Orland Park Place, saw Bugajski take clothing and cologne from a display and enter a fitting room, police said. The employee checked the fitting room and found tags from the items Bugajski had on her around 2 p.m., police said.

TUESDAY, JUNE 14

Theft and Suspended License

Latasha Burton, 28, of the 7600 block of South Muskegon Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft. According to the report, an officer saw Burton remove empty bags from her trunk and enter the mall at upper level of Sears around 6:30 p.m. An hour later, Burton left the mall and was picked up at the entrance.

Over $1,100 worth of items from Old Navy were found after a search of the car, police said. There were tags still on the clothes, but no receipts. Inside another bag, police found $90 worth of items from the Gap. An employee from the Gap said she saw Burton in the store carrying various items, which the employee said Burton did not pay for, police said. 

Latasha Burton was charged with two misdemeanor counts of retail theft. Alesia M. Burton, 44, of the 8200 block of South Maryland Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving on a suspended license, failure to signal when required, and failure to use child restraint seats after police stopped the elder Burton for making not signaling to make a turn in the 15200 block of LaGrange Road.

SUNDAY, JUNE 12

Urinating in Public

David P. Bohne, 59, of the 26200 block of Cherry Lane in Monee, was cited for disorderly conduct. According to the report, a woman in the 7400 bock of Willow Wood Court said that Bohne often drives his pickup to the lot, parks next to a van, and urinates between the cars on the pavement before driving away. The woman showed the officer an area of what appeared to be fresh urine just after 9 a.m. next to a pickup truck in the lot. The woman said that Bohne has done this several other times, police said.

THURSDAY, JUNE 2

Battery at Orland Days

Michael D. Lowry, 18, of the 13500 block of Sandalwood Drive in Orland Park, and Joshua D. Rhodes, 18, of the 13900 block of Charleston Drive in Orland Park were charged with battery.

Police broke up a fight at Orland Days in the Metra lot at 10401 153rd St. around 8 p.m. A female witness told one of the officers that she was in line for a ride and saw the fight occur. She saw Lowry and Rhodes also standing in line and arguing with the victim. The witness said that Rhodes pushed the victim and then said she saw both Rhodes and Lowry punching the victim in the face. Police came and separated the group.
