Police Blotter: Rockwelz Owner Cited After Bar Brawl

Orland Park police reports, July 31-Aug. 18

THURSDAY, AUG. 18

Underage Drinking

Thomas J. Hoekstra, 18, of the 12100 block of 68th Court in Palos Heights, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and was cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. Nicole T. Lambrigger, 19, of the 19300 block of Foxford Lane in Mokena, and a male juvenile were cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor. An officer on patrol in the 17700 block of LaGrange Road saw Hoekstra drive by without a front license plate just before 3 a.m. The officer smelled alcohol on Hoekstra's breath, and Hoekstra failed field sobriety tests, police said. The officer found an empty beer can and two cannabis pipes in the car, police said.

Cannabis and Paraphernalia

Ashley M. Mendoza, 19, of the 2000 block of Cherrywood Circle in Naperville, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer in the 14300 block of LaGrange Road saw a car with one working headlight and pulled it over around 11:20 p.m. The officer smelled cannabis coming from the car, according to the report. The officer found a bong containing cannabis under the driver's seat, a plastic bag containing a half gram of cannabis, and a wooden hitter box containing more cannabis residue, seeds, and a metal pipe, police said. The officer also found a bag of cannabis in the trunk containing 29 grams, police said. Mendoza also was issued a ticket for the headlight.

TUESDAY, AUG. 16

Speedy DUI

Matthew P. Legault, 34, of the 300 block of Bonnie Drive in Lockport, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. An officer on patrol in the 17800 block of Wolf Road saw Legault traveling 56 mph. in a 45 mph zone around 2:25 a.m, and the officer smelled alcohol on Legault's breath, according to the report. Legault admitted to drinking, police said. Legault also was issued a speeding ticket.

SUNDAY, AUG. 14

Battery and Warrant

Heather M. Derkovitz, 26, and Erica F. Waddick, 32, both of the 10200 block of Hibiscus Drive in Orland Park, were charged with battery. An officer on patrol at the Advocate Medical Center, 29 Orland Square Dr., saw a group of women and a man arguing with each other just before 4 a.m., and the officer separated the group. The accuser said that she and some friends were going to their car when Derkovitz and Waddick began to yell. Derkovitz and Waddick admitted to having words with the accuser, police said. The accuser told police that Derkovitz and Waddick began to pull her hair and strike her. A man on the scene, William E. Baker, 27, of the 300 block of Marigold Place in Joliet, was arrested on a Will County warrant for the charge of possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver. Baker was transferred to the Will County Sheriff's Department. Derkovitz and Waddick were released on bail.

SATURDAY, AUG. 6

Warrant Arrest

Arthur F. Mickow, 31, of the 3800 block of West 75th Place in Chicago, was arrested on a warrant issued in 2000 for an aggravated assault charge. Police were called at 11 a.m. by a resident in the 15300 block of Heather Court who wanted to avoid a confrontation with Mickow. A name check revealed the warrant. Mickow was released on bail.

Fight at Rokwelz, Owner Cited

Mike Campas, 65, of the 15100 block of Vail Court in Orland Park, was cited for violating an ordinance regarding liquor establishments. A bar patron at Rokwelz, 11265 159th St., called police at about 1:45 a.m. regarding a fight. The victim appeared drunk and had a cut above his nose, police said. The victim said he was playing bags when an argument started. He said he was sucker-punched by other patrons. A security guard said he escorted the victim to the door and saw the victim in the parking lot with some other people. The security guard dispersed the group but did not call police, according to the report. Campas, the bar owner, was cited because the fight occurred at the bar and there was no attempt by security to contact police.

FRIDAY, JULY 31

Disorderly Conduct

Suzanne F. Dmour, 19, of the 10500 block of 167th Street in Orland Park, was cited for disorderly conduct. Police were called to Lifetime Fitness, 16333 LaGrange Rd., about a woman who wasn't a club member and wouldn't leave the locker room around 5:30 a.m. Staff told police that Dmour has been banned from the facility but was somehow sneaked in by a friend, according to the report. After being told to leave by staff multiple times, Dmour was yelling at her friend and throwing towels in the locker room, according to the report.
