Police Blotter: Woman and Children Mooned, Gift Card Fraud

Orland Park police reports, Feb. 12-23

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 23

Minor Consumption

Clement P. Balto, 19, of the 10300 block of Homan Drive in Chicago, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. Balto was a passenger in a car stopped in the 16200 block of LaGrange Road around 12:30 a.m. for driving without a rear license plate light, police said.

Grandchild Along For Ride

Deneen T. Mitchell, 45, of the 3300 block of Roesner Drive in Markham, was charged with retail theft. Orland Square Mall security told police that Mitchell hid rugs and candles in a shopping cart, underneath her grandchild, and left a department store around 5 p.m. without paying, according to a police report.

SUNDAY, FEB. 20

Leaving Scene of Accident

Joslynn Ford, 18, of the 9000 block of Kennedy Court in Orland Park, was charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, improper lane usage and improper passing. Police said Ford caused an accident in 7100 block of 159th Street around 6 p.m. and fled. She was stopped in the 15300 block of Harlem Avenue minutes later, police said.

Batteries Filed

Julio Castillo, 27, of the 18100 block of Pulaski Road in Country Club Hills, was charged with domestic battery, battery, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving on a suspended license. Police said Castillo punched a man and woman in the face outside a home in the 9800 block of El Cameno Court around 10 p.m.

Red Handed

Byron S. Holcomb, 32, of the 1700 block of 91st Street in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police said they stopped Holcomb’s car in the 14400 block of West Avenue around 2:45 a.m. for swerving between lanes. Police found a red plastic cup filled with what they believed to be alcohol in the cup holder, according to the report.

THURSDAY, FEB. 17

Gift Card Fraud

Two out-of-state men were arrested on fraud-related charges around 9:30 p.m.

Police said they stopped a car in the 9300 block of 159th Street for changing lanes without signaling and found 14 “re-encoded” gift cards, according to the report.

Aly Sylla, 22, of the 3500 block of Sanita Court in Columbus, Ohio, and Moussa Sy, 21, of the 10700 block of Kitchener Avenue in Bowie, Md., were each charged with receiving credit card of another, police said.

Sylla was also charged with driving on a suspended license, improper display of registration and failure to signal, police said.

TUESDAY, FEB. 15

Driving onto Snow Bank

Daniel A. Marek, 26, of the 9900 block of 145th Street in Orland Park, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage. Marek was stopped in the 9800 block of 159th Street for hitting a right-hand curb and driving onto a snow bank around 10:30 p.m., according to the report.

SATURDAY, FEB. 12

Woman and Children Mooned

Ian E. Luscombe, 18, of the 0-100 block of Golfview Lane in Frankfort, was charged with disorderly conduct. Police said Luscombe, a passenger in one car, pulled his pants down and mooned a driver and her three children in the 15600 block of LaGrange Road. The car Luscombe was driving in was stopped in the 15300 block of LaGrange Road around 12:30 p.m., police said.
