Police: Chicago Ridge Man Arrested for Holding Orland Hills Woman in Car Against Her Will

Matthew Wydra, 26, was charged with unlawful restraint and traffic violations after police stopped him for speeding while the 18-year-old woman was in his car. He also was charged with possession of child pornography, which police found during a search.

arrested a Chicago Ridge man early Monday morning for unlawful restraint after holding an 18-year-old Orland Hills woman against her will in his car, a police official said.

Matthew Wydra, 26, of the 5800 block of 107th Street in Chicago Ridge, also was charged with reckless driving, speeding more than 40 mph over the limit, speeding in a construction zone and possession of child pornography, which was found during a search of Wydra's car, said Deputy Chief Kevin Keegan. He is being held in Will County Jail on $50,000 bail, and his next court date is June 11.

Wydra was stopped for driving 82 mph over the speed limit at around 12:16 a.m. Sunday, May 21, in the 9900 block of Lincoln Highway, Keegan said. When the officer got out of his cruiser, a woman approached him from the passenger side of Wydra's gray Chevy, crying, breathing heavily and appearing scared, Keegan said.

The woman told the officer that she met Wydra online and agreed to meet with him that night, Keegan said. Wydra picked up the woman at a friend's house, but she became fearful when he told her he was going to take her to a Manhattan cornfield to have sex, Keegan said. When the woman told Wydra she wanted out of the car, he turned up the volume on his car stereo to drown her out until he was pulled over, Keegan added. After speaking to the woman and Wydra, the officer took Wydra into custody and brought him to the village police station where he was charged, Keegan said.

Frankfort Police detectives were called in after a search of Wydra's car found child pornography and other items that Keegan would not reveal because the case is still under investigation. Detectives also are working with Cook County authorities concerning an incident at Wydra's Chicago Ridge residence, said Keegan, who wouldn't give details.
