Sex Offender Arrested at St. Alexander's Gets Two Years

Anthony Olszowka of Orland Park was arrested on Sept. 19, 2010, for unlawful presence in a school zone at St. Alexander's in Palos Heights.

After almost two years, the sex offender arrested at St. Alexander's School in Palos Heights has entered a guilty plea and will face jail time. 

Anthony Olszowka, 39, of the 13600 block of Howe Drive in Orland Park, was charged with prohibited presence within a school zone in connection with a Sept. 19, 2010, incident at St. Alexander's School in Palos Heights. On May 16 he agreed to plead guilty and was sentenced to two years in jail.

He will also pay $625 in court costs and register as a sex offender, according to .

On the morning of Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010,  at St. Alexander Church and religious education classes were underway at the attached school, police said. 

He was spotted the week prior loitering in a shared entryway connecting the church and school, police said. After they received notice of a suspicious person he was identified as a registered sex offender. Police then monitored the area the next week to see if Olszowka would return, .

Police say that on the day of his arrest Olszowka attempted to enter a restroom that was occupied by a child. 

The initial conviction that placed Olszowka on the Illinois Sex Offender Registery occurred when he was 22 years of age. He was convicted of indecent solicitation of a child and aggravated criminal sexual assault, according to the registry. His victim was 12 years old at the time.
