Sexual Exploitation Trial Put on Hold for More Evidence

The state's pretrial investigation continues against a man charged with 14 counts related to sexual abuse following a joint effort last year by Orland Park and Palos Hills police.

A jury trial set Monday for a man accused of sexually exploiting a teenage girl in both Orland Park and Palos Hills was postponed.

He and his attorney, Robert Callahan, are intending at trial to call witnesses who can provide an alibi for the dates and times between 2009 and 2011 that he is accused of molesting the girl.

The state, however, has not finished its investigation, telling Judge John Hynes on the morning a jury was to be selected that cell phone records pertaining to the case remain outstanding.

Only recently did prosecutors tender additional evidence, to which the defense will need time to review and respond, according to courtroom testimony.

Another hearing was set June 8 for the possible setting of another trial date.
