Nov. 17: Police were called about a car that crashed into a parked truck in the 10200 block of 151st Street around 6:25 p.m. The truck owner told police that while inside his home, he heard a loud crash and found the front end of his blue truck was damaged, as was the front end of a green Pontiac nearby, police said. The truck owner told police that the Pontiac driver said “that blue truck just hit me,” but he told the Pontiac driver the truck had been parked, according to the report. Police smelled alcohol on the Pontiac driver’s breath and she failed field sobriety tests, police said. Officers also found a plastic bottle in the care with tequila in it, police said. Danielle S. Carter, 38, of the 600 block of Green Bay Avenue in Calumet City, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving in the wrong lane, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving an uninsured vehicle.
Orland Man Accused in Fatal DUI Pleads Not Guilty: An Orland Park man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to his involvement in a DUI accident related to the death of a 70-year-old Tinley Park woman. Nicholas J. Gorny, 26, of the 11000 block of Laurel Hill Drive in Orland Park, has been charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol causing a death, a Class 4 felony. Nov. 23: Brian D. Bettenhausen, 34, of the 27600 block of 80th Avenue in Peotone, was charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, failure to signal and defective windshield. Police said they stopped Bettenhausen’s car at the I-57 South off-ramp near 167th Street around 1 a.m. for turning twice without a signal. Officers found an open cup of alcohol in his car, and he failed field sobriety tests, according to the report.
Nov. 28: Eric J. Leaner, 25, of the 3400 block of Golfview Drive in Hazel Crest, was charged with driving under the influence, speeding and no proof of insurance. Police said they stopped Leaner’s car in the 3100 block of Vollmer Road around 2:15 a.m. for driving 53 in a 40 mph zone and smelled alcohol on his breath. He failed field sobriety tests and a Breathalyzer exam, according to the report.
Nov. 27: Alexander B. Brown, 22, 6200 block White Birch Lane in Matteson, was charged with DUI, speeding and illegal transportation of alcohol. Police said they stopped Brown’s car at Vollmer Road and Governors Highway around 4:15 a.m. for driving 50 in a 40 mph zone and saw a can of “Mikes Harder Fruit Punch” out in the open. He was arrested after failing a Breathalyzer exam, according to the report.
Nov. 12: Karli M. Cooke, 25, of the 500 block of Regent Road in University Park, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding. Police said they stopped Cooke’s car at Willow Road and Dixie Highway around 2 a.m. for driving 42 in a 25 mph zone and found a cup that smelled of alcohol in the car. She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested, according to the report.
Nov. 12: Allen Parker, 32, of the 12800 block of Hoyne Avenue in Blue Island, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol. Police said they were dispatched to a parking lot near 183rd Street and Western Avenue around 3 a.m. about a swerving car and found Parker urinating next to his car. He failed field sobriety tests, and police found an open bottle of Remy Martin in his car, according to the report.
Nov. 12: Jesus Heredia-Martinez, 34, of the 1500 block of 187th Street in Homewood, was charged with DUI, assault, driving without a license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police said Heredia-Martinez threatened to hit a woman inside his home around 10:45 p.m. He then followed her to the police station in a separate car, and after smelling alcohol was submitted to field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to the report.
Nov. 27: Carlos M. Ortega, 20, of the 600 block of Bob White Lane in New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence, speeding, driving without insurance and underage consumption of alcohol after a traffic stop in the 10800 block of Laraway Road, police said. Ortega's next court date is Jan. 5.
Nov. 27: Bernard Scott Gerske, 56, of the 900 block of South Butternut Circle, was charged with driving under the influence, driving without insurance, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to yield from a private drive after an incident in the 19900 block of LaGrange Road, police said. Gerske's next court date is Jan. 4.
Repeat DUI Offender Arrested Again: A New Lenox man who pleaded guilty to drunken driving earlier this year was charged again after a traffic stop in Frankfort. Douglas R. Boettcher, 47, of the 2300 block of East Lincoln Highway in New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated DUI, driving with a suspended license and driving without a front license plate. Frankfort Police Cmdr. Kevin Keegan said an officer saw Boettcher weaving in his white Ford Mustang at 3:26 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. The officer followed Boettcher and pulled him over in the 11000 block of Route 30. Read more on .
Nov. 19: Michele R. Mangiliman, 32, of the 12300 block of Warren Drive in Mokena, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to signal and improper lane usage. Police said they stopped Mangiliman’s car at Carpenter Street and School House Road around 2 a.m. for turning left without a signal and drifting the full length of a tire between lanes. After officers smelled alcohol, Mangiliman agreed to take field sobriety tests in high heels and failed, police said.

Nov. 19: Corderro M. Williams, 23, of the 400 block of East 33rd Street in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police attempted to stop him for swerving into oncoming traffic lanes on 14th Street, according to the report. Before stopping, Williams shifted his car into reverse and backed up about 5 feet, police said. After taking a Breathalyzer test, Williams registered about the legal blood-alcohol content level and was taken into custody with additional charges of improper lane usage, no valid registration, no proof of insurance, and transporting open alcohol, according to the report.
DUI Arrest Nets Find of Ammo and Shroom Compost: discovered three boxes of firearm ammunition and compost for growing psilocybin mushrooms while stopping a man suspected of driving under the influence. Trinidad Ricci Jr., 39, was observed by police driving down the center of 100th Street before turning on to 10000 block of South Merton Avenue where Ricci lives around 2:10 a.m. Nov. 25, the report said. Ricci did not immediately stop when the officer initiated a traffic stop. The officer said Ricci narrowly avoided hitting a parked car while parking his Honda in front of his residence and drove up on the curb. When Ricci got out of his car, he faced the police officer with his hand in his pocket and had to be ordered several times to remove his hand, the report said. Read more on .
