June 23: Tafawa O. Davis, 42, of the 1700 block of North Mansards in Griffith, Ind., was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him near the intersection of 14th Street and Center Avenue just before 1 a.m., according to the report.
June 23: Police pulled over a car after seeing it straddle the lane line, come close to striking a landscape median strip and then shifting to the far right lane without signaling, on 159th Street west of Ravinia Avenue around 2:45 a.m. The driver’s speech was slurred, he smelled like alcohol and failed field sobriety tests, according to the report. While at the police station, he told officers he’s “worth so much money he can get out of a DUI,” police said. Brian P. Zabrodski, 23, of the 16100 block of Wildwood Lane in Homer Glen, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, speeding and failure to signal.
June 23: Police pulled over a truck after seeing it change lanes without signaling, swerving in the lane and following a car close to the point that the driver kept hitting brakes, in the 14500 block of LaGrange Road around 1:05 a.m. The driver did not hand over an insurance card, police smelled alcohol on his breath and he failed field sobriety tests, according to the report. Daniel J. O’Connor, 40, of the 14000 block of Cheswick Drive in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, following too closely, improper lane use, driving an uninsured vehicle and failure to signal.
June 16: Police pulled over a car after seeing it cut across the right lane to make a right turn, and then drive through a gas station without stopping, before turning right into the left lane in the 14100 block of LaGrange Road around 4:10 a.m. The driver’s eyes were red and glassy, and his breath smelled “strongly” like alcohol, according to the report. The driver also admitted to drinking and that it may not be safe for him to drive, police said. Jordan R. Karlson, 23, of the 100 block of Singletree Road in Orland Park, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08, improper turning, improper lane use and avoiding a traffic control device.
July 1: Jervon Adams, 36, 4108 W. 137th Street, Robbins, was charged with DUI after police saw the vehicle he drove weaving and crossing over the double yellow median lines into the opposite lanes at 2:08 a.m. Adams smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot and glassy eyes, slurred his speech and failed field sobriety, according to the police report. He had a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) of .180, police said. He was also charged with improper lane usage, failure to provide proof of insurance and driving with a BAC over .180. He has a court date of August 20 at the 6th Municipal District Cook County Courthouse in Markham.
June 30: Elizabeth McKeever, 46, of Manhattan, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying a police officer. Police said she drove over cones that were set up to direct traffic at Route 6 and Cedar Road at about 12:40 a.m. When police stopped her, they said they discovered she was driving under the influence. She posted bond and was released.
June 17: Jose Lopez, 37, of the 3100 block of Ainsline in Chicago, was charged with drunken driving, driving without insurance and driving without a valid driver's license. He was stopped on College Drive at 11:29 p.m. for swerving between lanes, police said. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of .222, police said.
June 16: Tomasz Budz, 34, of the 7300 block of 114th Street in Worth, was charged with driving under the influence. He was stopped at 9:45 p.m. for improper lane use, police said. He failed field sobriety tests, police said.
June 28: Police arrested an accused drunken driver around 2 a.m. who they said was driving 70 mph in a 40 mph zone and weaving across lane lines on northbound Harlem Avenue in . Brandon Tidwell, 29, of the 3600 block of West 58th Street in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and improper lane use. He refused to give a breath sample and reportedly became belligerent with police when told he was charged with DUI. "OK, you think so," he said, according to the report. "You can't charge me."
June 24: Kiery Piwowarski, 30, of 5150 Shadow Creek No. 2 in Oak Forest, was charged with driving under the influence on June 24. Police were called to a crash at about 8:12 p.m. near 159th and Laramie. One officer could reportedly smell alcohol coming from the breath of the driver, Piwowarski. She told police she was texting while driving when the crash happened. Witnesses said she had disobeyed a red light. She was charged with two counts of driving under the influence and cited for texting while driving, disobeying a red light and driving without a license.
June 21: William J. Ledwell, 42, of the 11600 block of Roberts Road was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, too fast for conditions, failure to reduce speed, accident-property damage after he rear-ended a woman near 186th and Wolf Road. Ledwell told the officers the accident was his fault and he was sorry. Police asked if Ledwell if he'd been drinking, which he admitted to having two beers at Rockwelz. Ledwell failed standard field sobriety tests at the scene. After the tests, Ledwell admitted to having three beers at Rockwellz and one shot at Cool River. He asked the officer if he could leave his truck at the scene and just get a ride, at which time he was arrested. He was released on $100 I-bond pending a court date in Joliet on Aug. 1.
