Still No Deal in Place For Orland Park Carjacking Case

Attorneys were still working on a deal for an alleged Orland Park carjacker.

A prosecutor and an attorney for an Orland Park man charged with breaking an elderly woman's leg during a carjacking said they were still working on a plea deal.

The lawyers informed Cook County Judge Colleen Hyland of the ongoing negotiations in 25-year-old Peter Sousan's carjacking case during a Tuesday morning hearing at the Bridgeview courthouse. Judge Hyland set scheduled a July 9 date for the case to continue.

Sousan was arrested a week after a July carjacking in the parking lot of an Orland Park Walgreens. He allegedly kicked his 88-year-old victim in the leg while stealing her car. The woman's leg reportedly broke in two places.

Sousan has been locked up in the Cook County jail since August. His attorney, Zaid Abdallah, asked Judge Hyland if Sousan's mother could visit with her son while he was being held at the courthouse. The mother's health makes it difficult for her to visit Sousan at the county jail, Abdallah explained.

Hyland denied the request. She said sheriff's department policy prohibits such visits and the matter was out of her hands.
