Vigilant Dad Catches Orland Park Man Masturbating in Front of Girls

An Orland Park businessman parked his car in a remote alley, then allegedly exposed himself to young girls nearby. One dad saw it all—and wasn't about to let him get away with it.

A quick-thinking Harvey man pointed police to a man he allegedly caught masturbating in front of young girls.

Guas Sweiss, of the 11000 block of West 167th Place in Orland Park, has been charged with exposing himself to two girls, Harvey police said. Sweiss—referred to by police as a "serial predator"—parked his car in an alley in the 15000 block of South Loomis on July 14, then walked over to bushes and exposed himself to masturbate while watching the girls, officials said.

Neighbor Kenneth Smith noticed the empty car, and scanned the area for a driver—spotting Sweiss near the bushes, "doing what he was doing," he told WGN. He noted the license plate on the car, and called 911.

Police applauded his swift response as crucial in nabbing Sweiss. Smith said he was just doing what he hopes any of his fellow neighbors would.

"I got a little girl, nieces, and my neighbors, they got little kids," Smith—himself a father of a 4-year-old girl—told WGN. "So that was instantly, I couldn't believe what was going on, so I had to say something."

Sweiss is charged with a felony, due to prior sex and weapons convictions. He agreed to turn himself in on July 18, but failed to do so. A warrant was issued, and he was arrested Sunday, July 20.

He was due to appear in court Sunday.
