Home Invasion Shooting Suspect Dead: Police

Anthony M. Espinoza, 27, of Crown Point, Indiana, shot himself inside an East Chicago residence, police say. A warrant for his arrest was issued Friday following a home invasion, shooting and chase in Orland Park.

A man wanted by Orland Park police in connection with the Friday morning home invasion and shooting has killed himself inside an Indiana house.

Anthony M. Espinoza, 27, of Crown Point, Indiana, died of a self-inflicted gunshot to the head Friday night, police said. Officials had issued a warrant for his arrest earlier in the day.

Acting on a lead, members of the Gang Unit for the Lake County Sheriff’s Department in Indiana were descending on a home in the 700 block of Liberty Street in East Chicago when they heard a single gunshot, according to the Orland Park Police Department. Lake County officers took cover as one person from inside the home walked out and told police Espinoza had shot himself.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and the Lake County coroner’s office are investigating.

Police are looking for a 27-year-old Indiana man who is considered a suspect in .

An arrest warrant for the charge of home invasion was issued Friday for Anthony M. Espinoza (a.k.a. A-Train), 27, of the 10400 block of Nelson Street in Crown Point, Ind.

Espinoza should be considered armed and dangerous, according to a release from the Orland Park Police Department.

Two men who broke into an Orland Park home, shot a man inside and stole jewelry and cash, left the scene in a silver PT Cruiser with a man described as Hispanic and about 30 years old behind the wheel. Espinoza is suspected to be the getaway driver, according to Orland Park Police Commander John Keating.

Police recovered what they believe to be the suspects’ vehicle in Gary, Ind. and it is en route to Orland Park.
