Drinking For 2? Woman Charged With Drunken Driving Wanted Cops to Give Her Pregnancy Test: Police

The Tinley Park woman asked a couple times to take a pregnancy test when asked to submit to a Breathalyzer, police said.

A Tinley Park woman pulled over in Orland Park refused to take sobriety tests but was more than willing to take a pregnancy test, police said.

The woman, 23-year-old Brooke Werner of 17701 Pheasant Drive, was pulled over near 163rd Street and LaGrange Road after an officer ran her registration and found it was expired.

When he spoke to Werner, the officer smelled alcohol, noticed her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and cheeks were flushed, police said. The officer "subsequently asked Brooke how many drinks she had consumed tonight but she denied consuming any alcohol," police said.

The officer asked Werner to try standing on one leg but she refused to give it a shot, police said. Likewise, she was reportedly not interested in participating in a walk-in-turn sobriety test.

"The last test I offered Brooke was a portable breath test," the officer said, according to a police report.

"Upon doing so, Brooke asked if I could offer her a pregnancy test before doing so," the report said. "I advised Brooke I could not do so and again asked her if she would like to take a portable breath test. Brooke again refused to do so and again asked for a pregnancy test."

Werner was charged with driving under the influence and operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration.
