Library Board Seat Applicant List Closed with 12 Eligible Applicants

Three more people threw in their hats to fill the Orland Park Public Library Board of Trustees open position since mid-December.

The Orland Park Public Library has accepted 13 total resumes and letters of intent from people interested in taking the available board position.

Of the applicants, 12 are eligible for the position that became available when former president Carole Hillman resigned, citing undisclosed health reasons.

Current library board members will meet on Jan. 13th at 7 p.m. for a closed-session discussion, where they are expected to narrow down the list of candidates for interviews, said library spokesperson Bridget Bittman.

Barb McNellis, a resident of unincorporated Orland Township who submitted for the seat, is technically not qualified to run since she is not a resident of the village of Orland Park. According to the library’s bylaws, all board members must be village residents.
